Wow. Part of the settlement of the lawsuit Apple brought against them. The guy doesn't seem too bummed... Oh well. And MOSR is still in business? What a nutty world. |

He's probably made a small fortune off the whole thing. Easily enough to pay his university tuition. The real question is will the number of new AppleNova members drop once ThinkSecret is gone?

We must have got a few good members from TS, right? They can't all be screeching idiots.

I found AN through TS, initially. I'd hope I'm not a screeching idiot...

But I'd be willing to bet the idiots we get from there outweigh the RowdyScots. And I'm also sure that people looking for intelligent Apple discussion will continue to find AN. Logic, logic, logic. Logic is the beginning of wisdom, Valeris, not the end. |

Yeah but you found it back when ThinkSecret was still, like, good, right? Who goes there now? They haven't been accurate in years.
Regardless, there needs to be a foot in mouth smiley. Logic, logic, logic. Logic is the beginning of wisdom, Valeris, not the end. |

I think a good indicator will be how many extra people we have here during Macworld '08. We certainly have a few people here that found their way and settled from TS, but of course I'm not privy to stats and such. I think most 'talkback' people just stuck to TS's news comment sections, honestly, because if you compare the signal/noise ratio between here and there it's pretty blatant.
Regardless, I'm a bit sad to hear Nick is leaving. He had some good runs, and it's been fun to be along for the ride with him for so many years. Hopefully Brad and Eric can get together with him and figure out what he's doing with his site. I'd hate to lose all that history to the ether... and it might be of some value if we could retain all that somewhere and maybe redirect inquiring minds to this site in the process. So it goes. |

I was just commenting on how sad I am, in general, that TS is gone. But then again, I haven't been there in a while... and i guess i've known it all along / the truth is, you have to be soft to be strong |

Good riddance in my view I am afraid.
I bet he still gets / makes a bundle from the domain name. |

Well, I found AN through TS but I can't say I'll miss it. I'm not even sad to see it go. After the lawsuit it really became a waste of space and a link to here.

Actually, to a degree that even surprised me a bit. After all, the lawsuit also added up to their reputation initially. But not enough apparently... AppleInsider has taken over in my opinion. But this forum is waaaay better than AI's. |

Is it evil that I'm glad?
Not that TS was bad. But rather I prefer having a forum that isn't tied directly to a rumor site. The sites that link to a forum tend to govern the type of posts that end up on said forum. OK, now i'm feeling old. It's like having your favorite restaurant next door to the local teen hangout. As you get older, one develops a different perspective on their proximity. |

I used to come here through TS all the time before I just started skipping TS altogether.
I havent read anything on there in a long time, so it won't really be missed by me in any way. No more Twitter. It's Mastodon now. |

See, I knew we got some good members from TS. I think a lot of the real duds came when we tried to merge with the members of the old Think Secret forums. That didn't go over well at all.

You know what this means? It means we don't have to have any more threads about what our ties to TS are! Yay!
TS has really gone downhill since the first time they got sued. They hardly ever had anything good any more and rarely had it before somebody else did. |
