Hi guys,
I know some of you aren't kitchen people, but I also know lots of you happen to be kitchen people. I'm looking for a new electric water kettle - something like this. Our old one broke and I'd like to replace it with something that fits into the stainless steel motif we've got going in the kitchen. Oh, its brushed steel - not shiny. So I'm leaning toward this unit. Any suggestions? User formally known as Sh0eWax |

Electric kettles are one of the few devices that are hard to fuck up in terms of crap function, so if aesthetics are your main concern, then go for it. That being said, Breville tends to make quality kitchen electronics.

I like Adagio's Electric Kettle. Because it's a tea kettle, it has 2 presets; 180 degrees or boiling. This is good if you drink teas that require a precise temp, but it's also good for when you want to heat ANY water to not quite boiling, 'cause sometimes you just don't want 212, right? It's cheaper from Adagio's site, but this way tosses AN points; if you want to do it the Adagio way, PM me for a $5 off certificate. It's 30oz, which may be less than you want, is there a specific size you want?

I have the Breville, and it's been our workhorse for tea. The aesthetics aren't important to me, so I'd probably give that Adagio a try if I shopping today. Nice tip Capella.

Good call on the size, I forgot to specify - or even think about it much. I just figured they were all similarly sized. However, I probably need about 1.5 liters minimum - so the Adagio is mostly out. I suppose my criteria really limits itself, and since I know the Breville and it has a good reputation that's probably what I'll go with.
