There have been rumours of a Pro Audio app for Macworld 2005 for a little while now, built on the logic basics to compete with digidesign. It will look a work in conjuntion with FCP.

I for one would like to stop paying through the nose evertime digidesigndecide they need more money.

Apple please be true !

Some like Robotnik claim to have seen the app itself. More than a few have heard rumblings that Apple has something brewing. I expect this to be true because although Logic is a great app it is heavily slanted towards midi with audio features tacked on. Nothing is going to beat Digi without having knockout audio editing features. Apple needs two seperate apps. Logic 7 would be aimed at musicians while the new Apple DAW would be aimed at Post Production and heavily favor audio editing features over midi. With 250k registered FCP users and more coming everyday Apple need only attach the new DAW to a majority of their installed base and it's guaranteed to have success. Apple is rumored to have been working on this app before the Emagic aquisition and it's supposedly 64bit which is more believable now that Tiger runs 64 bit processes etc.

Nothing is going to kill Digi however. Apple would never attempt to cover the ultra high end that Digi does with the HD systems and the icon. Apple seems content to craft out niche by going after the low hanging fruit. That's fine with me.
