View Full Version : Quark XPress Resizing Newspaper Ads
I'm a bit rusty with Quark. Could anyone please tell me a surefire way to do graphic design production work involving resizing newspaper ads in Quark Xpress? Thanks for any advice.
Not sure if I understand you right: is your goal to layout an ad-page with not sizeconform ads from other companies? If that's the case, just export the original ad-file - quark or indesign - as eps (for 4-c layouts choose DCS 2.0), import it into your lauyout like an image or illustration and let it fit to the frame (apple-shift-F for nonproportional-fit and apple-alt-shift-F for proportional-fit)
I'll probably get one ad that is approved by the client and then I'll have to resize the ad for 20-30 different newspapers with varying dimension and send them pdf's most likely exported from Quark. I always get hung up on how to do this because I don't do it often enough to remember. I know I have to group everything and then I can use the percentage tool or click and drag to resize the design. But when it comes down to getting the ad resized to the exact dimensions with a bleed I get a little confused what to do. I'm just looking for a step-by-step example like 1. create new document with dimensions, 2. group, copy, and paste layout into new page, 3. shrink/expand layout to fit new dimensions, 4. add bleed, etc. but maybe in more detail and with somethings to look out for if possible. Thanks again for any help with this. I'll also be looking for a Quark for Dummies book... just looking for some quick help with the one thing that always gets me frustrated...
