I'm getting ready to move from my current apt to a house with my boyfriend. I currently have a cable internet connection, and am contractually obligated to keep it for a little while. I've never had a problem, so I'll probably keep it for more than a little while.

We both have desktops (1 Mac, 1 PC), so I am going to need a router.

The only thing is that (hopefully) soon, we will both have laptops (2 Macs), at which point, I would like to use Airport Express - I don't particularly want to be attached to an ethernet cable all the time.

So, basically I need a router that I will only use for a couple of months. Therefore, I would prefer it not be very expensive, but I would also rather not have to spend 3 weeks trying to make it work.

Any suggestions?

I'd go with an SMC Barricade -- I find them much better than Dlink or linksys products.

You could get a SMC2804WBR Barricade g 2.4GHz 54 Mbps Wireless Cable/DSL Broadband Router -- it has 4 auto sensing 10/100 ethernet ports and is also a wireless router that will be compatible with the Airport Extreme cards in your future notebooks. It costs about $70 and you won't need to buy a Airport Extreme base station.
