Deke McClelland? :lol: Haha - no - but I know deke and he's a great guy! (but he doesn't do much with After Effects - just a genius at Photoshop!)

Well, I didn't want to blaze in here with shameless self-promotion right off the bat, so I'm leaving it open to just say you can see my web site in my profile and learn about my books there. ;)

But please - Feel free to bend my ear! God knows my students are all goofing-off at their computers right now and I could use someone asking some serious questions! :D

I get this error at random points during rendering uncompressed AVI's or hi res WMV's. It happens about 90% of the time, although sometimes I get a complete. My current project is 6 minutes long and it has happened throughout the sequence. If I uninstall & re install AE I get about 2 or 3 completes, then the error shows up again. I am running a dual processor Pentium IV 3.2 GHZ with 4 GB RAM and a 256 MB nVidia Quadro FX 500/600 card, writing to Seagate Barracuda 15000 rpm drives. I would appreciate any insight into the issue.

Jeff What training program (dvd) would you suggest for a beginner? I have CS2 on a 1.5 G4 powerbook with 2gig ram.
Camera is a D70. I just joined a photoshop group here in New Orleans and am eager to learn something new

I need, my renders keep failing.

I get this msg pop up that says this.

AFTER EFFECTS: NOT ENOUGH MEMORY TO CREATE ITEM CACHE ENTRY (1K REQUESTED 0K AVAILABLE).

But i have 3 gig of ram?

Help.

This is probably a n00b question...

Sometimes when I download an image off teh intraweb, and go to retouch it, Photoshop won't let me make new layers or select certain colors. Is something wrong with Photoshop?

This means its likely a gif or png and it's in "indexed" color mode. Meaning it is locked into having only the colors that were set at time of compression. So if you (they) saved it as a gif with, say, only 8 colors, it'll only allow those 8 colors to be used for drawing or typing with.

Simply choose:

Image: Mode: RGB Color

from the menu.

Then you can add layers, use transparency, use soft edged brushes, use millions of colors, etc.
