Newbie Questions...

Well, only one question really... and I didn't find it in another post, so here 'goes:

I've selected in my viewing options to show Avatars and Signatures, but they are still not visible. Thinking it might be like Wondoze and you must really "Un-check" the box if you don't want to be warned about emptying your Recycle Bin (Trash) - I unchecked the boxes and tried again. Still Nada. I re-checked the boxes, reloaded pages, emptied my cache, quit the browser and relaunched it, etc... still nada.

Is this function working or am I missing something?

Well, no one here has avatars... actually there was quite a heated debate about them when a large number of people tried to move here from a different message board. Most of them were fine with it, but a few got pretty indignant about us not wanting avatars. Anyway, we don't have them so you won't be able to see them.

Almost everyone has signatures. I don't, but you do... can you see yours? It seems to work for me.

Yes - I am seeing my sig line now... it's kinda faint and I'm on a crummy computer at the College where I teach - so I'm sure I'll see it fine at home.

Well, we actually *do* have avatars, but they are located 'only' on each person's profile page. Some people have images there, some don't.

Btw, the sigs 'are' faint - "unobtrusive".

I think you'll find as you get used to the look of this place (sans avatars, muted tones, basically easy on the eyes) you'll think every other forum on the web is ugly as sin. :)

^ fair call - not that I visit too many other sites to make a comparison, but I really do like the clean lines and muted tones of this place. :)

Also, I appreciate the lack of avatars alongside every post. (I just find them disruptive.) :shrugs:
