View Full Version : Other monitor resolutions
OK guys, I'm racking my brain trying to figure out how to force my G5 to display a resolution it doesn't think it can handle. When I had my Voodoo 5500 in my G3, it could display it and I am using the same monitor.
Is there some key combination I have to hold down or a hack?
I use a program called DisplayConfigX. Right now my monitor is running at 1376x1032. To fully use it, you have to pay the shareware fee.
However, it's probably possible to somehow enable it anyway if you're good at Terminal and whatnot. The $12 shareware fee seems pretty high for such a basic hack. I personally found the most benefit when using a really bad 17" monitor that could only do either 1024x768 at 85 Hz or 1280x1024 at 60 Hz. I used it to go for an in-between resolution at an acceptable refresh rate.
Go ahead and try it out - it'll tell you which resolutions you'll be able to run and let you run some of the lower ones without having to register, I believe.
