Hi all -

In preperation to switch over to OSX, one hurdle I had to face was the amount of software I already had invested in Windows, so I did some major web surfing and stumbled on this article:
http://news.zdnet.co.uk/software/0,39020381,39214656,00.htm

With RedHat's announcement to support Apple's Mac line, is it possible to at least run Windows apps on a Mac via a Linux partition running this software? Intel's next line of CPU's (Merom, etc.) will support VT, so I think this can work: http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=26086

This sounds feasible at first glance. Opinions, comments?

Please browse or search the forums before starting new threads. :) This particular issue has been covered numerous times in numerous places.

In summary:

Traditional "closed system" emulators like bochs are already working to boot a rooted copy of Windows.
The Darwine (http://darwine.opendarwin.org/) implementation of Wine (http://www.winehq.com/) should allow full-speed execution of most Windows applications on Intel-based Macs. Darwine does not need Linux to operate.
It will be no great feat to recompile Linux to run on the Intel Macs. Linux runs on practically everything from PCs to iPods to refrigerators.
Windows Vista will support EFI and thus should be able to boot natively on the Intel-based Macs.

So, I'm closing this one up...
