farewell aidottomsucks
the new link is funny as hell
Sigh, I can't believe I actually bought the record after just listening to the discussion here. I don't know what I was thinking.

I remember hearing it on vinyl at a friends place when it first came out.
Might have had a track or two played at some dances back in school.
Not particularly outstanding to me at the time, but memorable enough to ring a bell or two now.

Uh... is it really gone? I think not...

:| eh ... it's not that funny.
Um, what's with the new pics?
Um, it's like the Olympics or something.

Ok, well, the second one would be the statue of Athena that was inside the Parthenon. The third would be the ancient Olympic Stadium.

ohh i see now they were really hard to tell i feel lik,e such a dumbass not recognizing that stuf ive taken 2 mythology classes and now alot about greek history from them
Olympics, of course.
People still watch those? ;)
Shouldn't feel like an idiot for the third, I'd love to have a better photograph of the ancient olympic stadium.
But if you missed the first two, and you've studied this, then yes. Feel like an idiot.
And for those saying the Athena statue is ugly... this is the picture anybody that has studied ancient greece gets shown in order to communicate what the Athena statue inside the temple looked like. So ugly or not, that's how she looked.

I still picture her as Susan Fleetwood (brother of Mick) from the classic '81 Harryhausen flick.
image half way down (http://www.theseventhvoyage.com/Clashactors.htm) too wide for inline posting.
Now Ursula Andress as Aphrodite... mmmmm.
More stills as a summary (Spoilers) here (http://www.vgmuseum.com/mrp/NewCV/cvlib-titanclash.htm)
LoCash is being elitist, guys. ;) I don't blame you if you didn't understand any of them - yes, the Parthenon is a major Greek landmark, but that's a weird close-up picture taken from a weird angle. The picture of Athena, while authentic, is also a particularly bad picture.
I made a kickass set myself using the power of AppleWorks:
http://www.tc.umn.edu/~resc0030/newholes.jpg
I sent this to LoCash and he might use it as inspiration for a redesign of the holes. As far as the American flag, my guess is that will change depending on which country has the most medals at the moment. Right now the US has one more than China, but China has four more golds than the US.
Call me elitist, but if you have studied ancient Greece, and knowing that the olympics are in Athens, you didn't guess "Parthenon" and "Athena", you're an idiot :)
I recognized both pictures as soon as you told me what they were. If I had seen something other than your zoomed-in-cropped-and-tilted view of them I would have been able to easily identify them without help. Obviously I know the Olympics are in Athens this year and I was trying to figure out what they were. I thought the Parthenon picture looked a bit like the starter gate for a downhill skier, but of course this is the summer Olympics, not winter. I also thought the third picture was a track or highway, like WBA mentioned.
So now the speedhole images change, but the link does not? Com' on, LoCash! You can do better. The link has to have something to do with the images.
Escher
i thought the first one was two ears of corn.
i thought the second one was a blow up doll....with a viking hat on.
(which made me wonder about LoCash...so i never got to the third one)
thanks for ruining my illusions.
Just graduated 12th grade, didn't take humanities or anything, but even I could tell what the first two were.
I was trying to figure out why a nascar raceway was in the 3rd though;)

Someone should email Aldo Nova and tell him why he's selling music again all of a sudden.

Seriously, wouldn't it be funny if he suddenly got this increase in royalty checks or whatever? He'd HAVE to wonder "what in the hell is going on?!?".
:D
He'd be obligated to give an exclusive AppleNova webcast concert, to thank us.
:p
If every AppleNova member (we're over 850 strong now) went to the iTMS and just purchased their favorite Aldo Nova song for 99¢, that would have to register somewhere, wouldn't it?

Make that 849, 'cause I sure as hell am not buying that shit. Unless hype.it buys it for me! ;)

When we have our annual Apple Nova World Wide Scavenger Hunt, the grand prize just might be an Aldo Nova record collection...

No, this (http://www.florentine-persona.com/Images/Phreaknic03/Parthenon/athena1_med.jpg) is that picture. Uncropped, even.

I think everyone should quit bitching. I think they look good. Go over AI and it's like taking a walk back to Classic.

Well, the one benefit is that people demanding more keeps me on my toes.
I'm actually a little burnt out on working on nova right now. I've been hacking together images and code in the vBulletin templates on the test server for the 1.5 update, and it's just a lot of work, and I need a break :)
But I have some Xanax coming in this weekend, and maybe after I get all barred out on Saturday I'll have newfound motivation to come change the damned speedholes for you people.

Few people understand the psychology of dealing with a highway traffic cop. Your normal speeder will panic and immediately pull over to the side. This is wrong. It arouses contempt in the cop-heart. Make the bastard chase you. He will follow.
We are all wired into a survival trip now. No more of the speed that fueled that 60's. That was the fatal flaw in Tim Leary's trip. He crashed around America selling "consciousness expansion" without ever giving a thought to the grim meat-hook realities that were lying in wait for all the people who took him seriously... All those pathetically eager acid freaks who thought they could buy Peace and Understanding for three bucks a hit. But their loss and failure is ours too. What Leary took down with him was the central illusion of a whole life-style that he helped create... a generation of permanent cripples, failed seekers, who never understood the essential old-mystic fallacy of the Acid Culture: the desperate assumption that somebody... or at least some force - is tending the light at the end of the tunnel.
