So, what do you think? Is he ACTUALLY alive? I find it strange that:

1) He said that if he faked his death, he would return on May 16th, 2004, and he didn't show up to his party.
2) I couldn't find this story at any of the other news sites I checked. How did Yahoo get it and no one else did? And why no author listed?

The way I see it, this could be any number of things. Maybe it's true. But it could be a posthumous prank that Andy asked a friend to carry out on the day he was supposed to return. Or maybe, just to make everyone nervous, Andy is being late on his return on purpose. I guess time will tell if he actually returns or not. If he makes a public appearance or more than one news outlet publishes the story, then I would probably believe it. Until then I'm skeptical.

C'mon. While it would be great for someone to really pull something like this off - it just doesn't happen.

There were 4 or 5 stories submitted to TotalFark.
Here's one of them (http://hammeroftruth.com/2004/05/19/andy-kaufman-returns-is-hoax/)

I always wished it were true... but I don't think so. It's likely his old friend, Bob Zmuda, who is dressing up as Tony Clifton at http://andykaufmanreturns.blogspot.com/.

If anyone would do such a thing - fake hisr death and disappear for years - just as one long performance piece, it would be Andy. Damn, I wish it were true.

About ten years ago I was on vacation with my family in Florida. We went to some shitty Italian place for dinner and I swear to god, Andy was our bread guy.

When I saw him I shouted, "Oh my god it's Latka! Latka is out bread guy!" or something along those lines.

We didn't get any more bread that night.

Sadly, I think this isn't true. Poor Andy is dead. I've always dreamed about a cheesy buddy movie staring Andy Kaufmen and Steve McQueen. That would be so Boss.

there was nothing clever or amusing to be found that (http://andykaufmanreturns.blogspot.com/) on site. it's not andy. or he's become less clever in his dotage.
