I haven't played diablo II or starcraft in forever because I don't have classic on my computer and I haven't been able to install them. Well, Blizzard has just released (http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=adt0387p) a native OS X installer. This for a game that's several years old. That's what I call great support. Good for them! Blizzard has got to be the best mac game developer out there.

Boys and girls, don't pirate Blizzard games. They're a company worth supporting. :)

Blizzard has always had great support, and in particular Great *Mac* support. Their biggest short coming, they often have lots of delays for release time, things get pushed back a lot, but the thing is, the reason they do, is because blizzard would rather release a *quality* game the first time around, then have to patch it forever.

Though, the inevitably do end up patching games quite a bit, it's usually more to adapt to how players play the game, rather than fixing it.

It's my personal theory that Warcraft is going to become more of an RPG, World of Warcraft might be the end of it, in the sense that once that's set up, that's about all we'll see in terms of Warcraft.

Starcraft will take over the RTS spot in blizzards line-up with Starcraft 2 which will eventually be made.

but, I have no basis for this theory other than the fact WC3 isn't exactly an RTS like Starcraft is.

Starcraft's heroes were unique units with high stats: they didn't gain experience or items. In Warcraft 3 you had heroes who gained experience experience and could use items. The last set of missions in the The Frozen Throne expansion moved further toward RPG territory, giving you a party of several heroes, larger maps with more mini-quests, more than 10 character levels, exotic items and very few regular troops.

Exactly, while playing through frozen throne(which I never completed, but I got to the undead campaign) So many stages just weren't RTS at all. every once in a while they'd throw one in there, but there were so many that were closer to diablo or a typical RPG than previous warcrafting.

and the thing is, I think the warcraft universe leads itself very well to the role-playing genre.

Now, *nothing* has been announced about starcraft 2, but we all know they will make it eventually, and I don't think they are going to go the same route they went with Warcraft 2 -> Warcraft 3

I wouldn't be too surprised if Starcraft 2 used a similar graphics engine(not 3d)

damn, I want to play starcraft now! :p
