View Full Version : PB Backpack
I am looking for a good backpack I can carry my 15" powerbook in along with books for college. This is my first laptop so I need some suggestions from people who have experience with laptop backpacks. I am thinking $50-$100 range, but I am open to spending more if it is really worth the $$.
Thanks!

I love Trager backpacks. I've got one for my 15" powerbook and it works perfectly for school.

I've used a spire zoom xl for a few years now. It's totally sturdy and still in like-new condition even though I lug it to work and school and everywhere in between. It also looks like a nice stylish backpack, unlike the ugly obvious computer backpacks and bags other people seem to be addicted to.

And not only does it have a lot of room, but there are straps on the side that pull it in when there is less stuff in the bag.

Hi Joe. Why not look at this thread. Prices are higher than you mentioned...but I think you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the link Carol, I had been looking at the Brenthaven pack since that is the laptop backpack on the Apple store. I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't some great third party backpack I should know about. I really like how the Spire backpack has a "foot" for the powerbook for extra protection. The Spire pack I'm looking at is $140 and the Brenthaven is $180, I guess I just need to look at reviews now to see if Brenthaven is worth the extra $40...I suppose it must have something going for it if it's the official pack of the Apple store. If anyone else has some good suggestions let me know!
I have a black bag I use for college and it has lasted four years. Although the zipper broke, it is a very durable kevlar bag that is very comfortable with a special laptop compartment that fits my Pisno perfectly. Plus other slots for books, a binder, iPod and headphones. It even has CD-size pockets inside. I would certainly get another without question if it weren't for one rare feature I liked...
There is no logo/label on the bag! I looked all over and can't find out who made it to get another! Irony sucks :p
Anyways, I got the bag at Officemax for about $30 and it was well worth it and more.

My friend has a Targus Laptop Backpack and it seems to serve him well... They should be available from just about anywhere... even from *shudders* CompUsa....

I have had several backpacks and this one far outshines them all. It has a hard shell and a low profile. I have dropped it a few times with NO damage to my pb.
