Mail Unexpectedly Quits

Ever since I downloaded the two recent Security Updates, I have a problem where the Mail appliccation quits while launching. After the first Security update I solved it by resetting junk mail. But the last security update (strangely named 9/30...when it's October) has done something to my Mail app and it no longer will launch.( I just keep getting a message saying that Mail unexpectedly Quit and that it hasn't affected any otehr applications). I tried resetting junk mail again, but it doesn't work. By the way, I have Jaguar 10.2.8. I guess Panther has a problem with Times RO font, but that is not the culprit here.

Any suggestions? Please help!! ;-)

Let's assume you've done the disk and disk permissions repair procedures in the FAQ Sticky at the top of the Genius Bar forum. If not, then do those first!

Have you tried creating a new user and setting up a mail account for that user?

That will tell you if it's your account prefs or a corrupted mailbox, or if it's a deeper problem with the Mail app itself.

Lastly, even though you have Jaguar and not Panther, I'd get rid of the Times RO font if you do in fact have it.
