View Full Version : Your fortune cookie says...

Over the course of time, I've put slips from fortune cookies into a holder in my car, after trips through the drive-thru at Panda Express.
Just for the heck of it, I thought I'd post the fortunes I've accumulated, and ask members to pick the one they might like to get in 'their' fortune cookie. :)
So, pick 'one' fortune, and if you'd like to tell us why you chose that one, that would be nice too. ;)
In addition, you could write up and post an example of a fortune of your own devising that you'd love to receive, *or* post a great fortune that you received once. (Bonus points if that fortune actually came true! :D ).
Plus two questions:
- Does anyone actually take a fortune as a positive omen for the future?
- Does anyone else save the little fortune slips, especially when you get one you like? :)
Thanks for any replies.
(I know this is a silly topic. ;) :p )
(Give me ten minutes to type the poll.)

I had one that said "You are the master of every situation". I kinda liked that one. But...the one that I most closely affilate with is the talent one.
I find that most "fortune cookies" are less about fortunes and more about wise sayings. I guess fortune cookie makers are afraid of liabilities if they don't come true.

Remember that episode of Growing Pains when Ben Seaver got a blank fortune cookie? He though he was going to die or something. I always think of that episode when someone mentions fortune cookies.
It's hard to believe that Ben Seaver got so ugly that they had to introduce Leonardo DiCaprio's character just to make up for his ungodly ugliness. Poor kid.
I don't trust any of the options in your poll.

I really do *love* adventure, so I had to pick that one. :)
But I also liked the one that urged taking the chance that had been under consideration. I plan to do just that. ;)
I'd *love* to get a fortune that says: "You have succeeded in eliminating procrastination from your life, and all things are now possible!"
:D
I think a restaurant should use funny ones, like "She was faking it" or "Yeah, it does make you look a little fat".

Just don't forget to add "in bed" to every fortune.
I think that if others can relate to you, you're not really that artistic, stupid cookie. ;)

I chose: From a past misfortune, good luck will come to you.
I've recently reapplied to a job I didn't get before, at the recommendation of my manager. *Fingers crossed*

Just thought I'd mention that in passing.
In case you were wondering...
Yeah, you should have seen the Windswept-penned obscenities that we had to delete. You have a filthy mind, dear.

You are 'so' dead, Chuckaha. :p

Oh no, I don't.
I am a delicate and fragile flower. My mind is sweet, pure and innocent. :p
I like this thread. Money!
Damn Carol... those are some sailor-like fortunes. Pathetic douche?
Fine work.
I wish this: that my fortune cookies actually had f-ing fortunes in them. For years now, it seems the fortune cookie writers gild has been in shambles. Every time I get crap like this:
"It is wise and virtuous to smile, for frowns give you wrinkle, round-eye!"
or
"Work hard and your days will be filled with success."
IOW, they spell out the obvious instead of actually predicting something.
Fuck fortune cookies. I want Carol to start a fortune cooky company and apply her own brand of fortune telling.
