I don't know what got into me, but I just felt compelled to walk down the hallway at work like that guy in Clerks (the low, bent-knee "keep on truckin'" type of shuffle...if you've seen the movie, you know what I'm talking about). No one was around, I had no particular reason (or audience). I just think it's funny and I never pass up a chance to do it.
I had the hallway and that part of the building to myself. Or so I thought.
The owner's mom, who is all of 700 years old, comes out of one of the side offices right in front of me, as I'm laying it down, and dispenses the most "WTF are you doing?!?!" look I've ever seen on a human being.
What could I do? I just kept at it, and gave her a smile as I passed. I'm still chuckling about it, five minutes later and safely in my office.
Gonna be a long afternoon. *sigh*
I'm sure a memo regarding office drug-testing and the like will be forthcoming.
:)
Those moments .... Sounds like a good one.
I once had a cop open the door to my bedroom while I was (17 years old) knee deep and 220 decibals (is that a lot, cause it should be) into my air guitar Johnny Marr of the Smiths' lashing of Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now. Dissipating smell of weed; the cop almost, almost laughed at me.

 Man that would be worth money if you had a video! You didn't put the little lady into shock or anything did you?

Could have been worse... you could have been caught moonwalking.
Of course, for ultimate effect, you can only score points with a proper Silly walk (http://www.sillywalksgenerator.com/)

Nah, she just looked at me like I was from another galaxy. I'm guessing she's never watched "Clerks". :)
At first I was embarrassed, but there's no way to gracefully recover no matter what. So I just kept on doing, right past her. What are you gonna do? At that point, you just fully commit and go with it. :D

I seem to recall Chinney posting once that he got busted doing the Silly Walk in his office. I's search for it but I can't remember if it was here or at AI.

Definitely the classy, non-cheek smooching approach... Excellent! :)

Haha. :D
Oh, that would have been *great* to see!
A lawyer doing a silly walk. hee hee
I did silly walks pretty frequently when I was a kid (10-12). I loved making people laugh. :)
Being a kid was fun. ;)
Hey, Paul, from here on out, I'm gonna picture you doing a silly walk down the hallway at work. Just... classic - and vintage 'pscates'. :)

Don't ever plan to visit a lab after hours filled with over worked and underpaid grad students and not be assaulted with perhaps the worst renditions of every imaginable song . . . some will even start to dance or rather render dance like moves . . .
Having never seen this walk, I need a video to truly appreciate this thread. Linkage?

I've looked on YouTube and other places for it, from the original "Clerks" movie.
The only thing that has come close is that rooftop dance sequence from "Clerks II" on YouTube (which is good for so many other reasons, namely Rosario Dawson bouncing around in a tight little tanktop :p ).
All I could find...briefly, at the :23 mark, the idiot walking on the counter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXYFZq2JQSk). Just a stupid walk (Samuel Jackson does a cool variation on it in "Jungle Fever", right before his dad, Ossie Davis, plugs him).
And see what I mean about Ms. Dawson? Rawwwrrr...cutie vixen. ;)
Okay, well, nice job on the walk, pscates. :p
And yes, I do see what you mean. She should be legally required to always wear that. Or nothing. Always.

Ain't that the truth. Sublimeness.

Aw, c'mon AWR. No comment on the 'lawyers doing silly walks' remark? :) ;) :p

You know, from experience, a lawyer doing a silly walk would be a relief. I think silly-walk-behavior is normal behavior. The legal profession is filled with people who take themselves too seriously; they like to equate behavior with competence. "If I act like a lawyer should act then I must be doing a good job." I try to avoid the act like a lawyer routine, all the time; just be my fault-riddled self. Of course I can't when I meet clients, because they expect you to act like a lawyer.
I wanted to be a medical doctor; I think that I could be more myself. Professionalism is important, but natural self is important too. But I REALLY can't stand needles.

My sister used to get nauseous at the sight of blood. Then she thought it would be a good idea to become a nurse. Blood doesn't bother her anymore, nor does she get grossed out. At least not by anything I'm willing to do.
