There's a comedy festival of sorts on Monday here in Boston; my guess is he will be performing there. I was just leaving the bathroom at the fancy Copley Place shopping mall when I nearly fell over as I realized I just passed John Hodgeman, the Daily Show comedian who plays PC in the Apple commercials, on my way out.

I quickly ran over to a friend I was with, and said "ZOMG. I just ran into PC from the Mac commercials!", and pointed in his direction. My friend looked and replied, "Holy crap! That is him!" For a while I wondered if he'd be cool with me going up and telling him I liked his work, maybe even asking for an autograph, but he looked exhausted and I think he just arrived from the airport, since he was carrying bags.

We sort of stalked him discreetly for a while, though, and followed him into a Ben Sherman store, where he was looking at fancy suits. Heaven knows why, he was already dressed very elaborately, in clothing that looked anything but cheap -- Apple must pay him quite well for those commercials. ;)

It was weird, because he looked very... shy and reserved and withdrawn. And sophisticated. Anyways, I just thought it was really cool to run into PC, and wanted to share my story and impressions. :)

I think you should have gone and said 'Hi'. I certainly would. If you do it discretely, and from genuine feelings, and without being a goon, I think most sane people (actor or otherwise) would genuinely appreciate that. In fact it's probably nice to have a normal person simply say 'Nice Job' and not be trying to claim your babies, or steal a photo of you poking your nose - not that John Hodgeman has to worry on that level so much.

I remember stomping up to Norman Wisdom once in Carnaby Street in London. He was in his late 60's then I would estimate, and I was dressed like a punk rocker, but being the consumate professional (and great comedian) he was he masked his initial fear at an impending mugging, and was geuinely pleased someone had gone up to him to say how much he loved them as a kid, and still do to this day... We both walked away with smile.. Great memory.

That's so awesome.

The only (in)famous person I've ever seen is Tom Cruise, but I'd rather stalk old PC any day. ;)

Well, I kinda saw Fabio when I was in Hollywood. By "kinda," I mean "I mainly saw his Ferrari, but the others in my entourage saw him."
