Is anyone else unable to post, view member profiles, or even see the member list at .com? There is nothing to indicate that I have been banned from the site, just that all of my permissions have been removed (except for reading forums)...

I really don't know what I could have done to deserve this sort of treatment but....

now that I checked it out that is...

EDIT:

Few... I can still PM people... and that's all I need.

Update!!!

ACK! I also can't view a member's profile. I can PM them by clicking the PM button attached to a post but I can't view their profile...

No biggy...

that is odd... bb's posts on .com (http://forums.appleinsider.com/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=150303)

you have mostly posted in AO and never really came out of there for any reason... you were hardly malicious by any definition of the word and have no reason to be banned... unless kasper is going through the memberlist here and banning people one by one... :skeptical:... [/conspiracytheory] ;)

but still  WTF is that about?

Everything works fine for me...not like it matters though.

^ ditto for me too.

(I haven't posted there in a while... but I like to drop back now and then just to check it out and see if there's anything I'm missing out on... gotta say, though, currently this site is moving along nicely enough for my tastes.) :)

So they indiscriminately hacked into the pm system (which I believe is illegal), found that I sent one pm with .org to carol.

They considered this offense spam.

I actually believe this is more in reference to an email I sent Kasper asking him to be level headed with dealing with LoCash and Brad so that some sort of reconciliation can be hammered out. I implied that several users would be interested in buying .com if that failed...

We will see...

I did notice that one of the recent new members here on AI.org has the handle "anonymous coward". I laughed at that, but I do sometimes seriously wonder if there is a fear among some AI.com members whether they will be banned or shunned there if they start posting here. Certainly there has been an explicit policy in AI.com that this site cannot even be mentioned.

Just a *guess.

anonymous coward might be a reference to /. (http://slashdot.org). when you post there, and aren't logged in, the username is ac.

Well that's what I did...

But this action really defeats the purpose of calling it a private message.

On top of that, they failed at preventing me from sending out PMs. I still know a way of doing it.

As I said, I only sent one PM to carol. ONE.

I'm just saying I know that's why. I have no way of knowing who sent what. Just relaying the message. :)

Well can you "relay" a big old "fuck you very much" to whoever desided to do this. Thanks.

I hope you don't get used as a middle man between us and .com. That would suck.

murbot

Yeah, I have no desire to do that. I'm not relaying things back and forth... just thought I'd post the reason for the suspension.

I'll keep out of this thread now.

I wouldn't ask somebody to relay a message. But I'm guessing, \/\/ickes, that somebody that was aimed towards will see that message somehow...

well it seems like they disabled my private messaging...

which is the only means by which i can talk rationally to the admins over there...

ah well... it seems they didn't want my support...

I'm gonna PM you (here at .org) on how to PM people at .com. They left a hole open.

not wanting to spam .com myself...but i did send one PM the first or second day...haven't done it since...but i was glad to see the one person i PMed did show up here...i'm sure he goes to both sites, just like i do

would love to see a few more of my crazy liberal friends from AO.com, but time will likely see that happen without me PM or spamming...so i give it time...

i would be unhappy though if i found that my PMs were read by other than the intended person...that would be bad wouldn't it?? especially by the people complaining about brad posting as kasper...how would one be bad but the other not??

It seems to me that if a service is offered on a public medium, even if there is no charge, and if the service is identified (and even named) as being "private", then violating that privacy should be quite an offense. FCC regulations?

The service is offered as 'private', and it is accepted and used with that understanding. To then violate that privacy is wrong, and maybe even illegal, unless in a previously agreed-to statement it was made clear to the person registering that the private message system could be invaded for 'cause'.

Just my opinion on the matter. My private messaging there has been disabled also.
