I've just been given the "job" of taking some recorded audio (just a voice speaking that was recorded with a crappy mic plugged into an even crappier PC) cleaning it up and adding it to a flash movie. The audio has lots of hiss from a crappy mic.
Anyway, I'm new to the audio side of things and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for inexpensive (or free :D ) audio apps.

Amadeus II is a good shareware two track editor which has some basic noise sampling and cleaning tools. I use it for recording a lot.

I have to second robo's advice. Amadeus II is a really great program and my first choice for basic to moderate audio editing.

Not to state the obvious, but you might find something useful here... Mac OSX downloads/audio (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/audio/) :)

To get you started, here are three that I know of...
Audacity and SoundHack are freeware, SoundStudio is shareware.

Hope this helps.

Personally, I like SoundStudio a lot.
