Not sure what to make of it, but the iBook AND Powerbook images within the store have green circles with "new" over them when you click their links.

Something to add to the AppleStore speculation: It struck me as odd that the German Apple store (http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/germanstore) is advertising PowerBooks from EUR 1730.00 on its front page (the tiny preview image), while if you actually enter the store to customize the models, the cheapest (12" Combo) sells for EUR 1579.00 and there is no PowerBook whatsoever priced at EUR 1730.00. May be that means that an upgrade is in fact imminent, but the new / upgraded models will also be slightly more expensive?!

Not exactly. Check the iBooks within the store; they have the green "new" circle on them.

Messiashtosh,
That's what I was thinking - all this activity at the .Au AppleStore leads me to think it IS coming today, just not this early in the day.

So, finally, what do you think about the speed bump??
Will it come today???

C.

BTW: What time is it in California now? Here (Italy) it's 16.25.

Wow, I think that is new. The Apple store now has a timeout feature. I have never seen that before. Both the US and AU store tabs timed out, odd the German store did not and the three tabs were all refreshed at the same time.

Actually, the timeout feature has been around for longer than I can remember, although it might have been kicking in faster lately.

The "new" icon is present also in the US store (iBook)

Cheers.

It seems to me to be new, google searching the apple site for the pic doesn't come up with that one, meaning it's new enough not to have been caught by google's crawler...

I really doubt that it means anything though, which is why I'm confused.

If you look at the name of the images, in the US store it is like:

step1image3powerbook_0404.jpg (April 2004)

but for AU you get:

step1image3powerbook.jpg

Could this mean something??

The German site has this Eye Home thing that thay are selling, is this the where the name iHome came from? eye home (http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/germanstore.woa/91405/wo/qM7cMjj9dDA83iq6kZDw0kBwrVM/0.0.11.1.0.6.21.1.10.1.0.0.0.1.0)

I also thought that maybe the pages were being uploaded with iLife '05...but apparently not. So maybe the site just crashed, they lost the newer images and had to reload the backup ones from when they were "new"...

but...it would kickass if there was some new stuff.

No, the name iHome was born of wishful thinking, and died in trademark violation.

Don't get too excited about those "new" stickers on the PB and iBook photos. They've been there for quite a while. There was a great deal of excitement over the "discovery" of those stickers on the big PowerBook thread (http://forums.applenova.com/showthread.php?t=3036&page=11&pp=30) last tuesday.

Sorry, but it doesn't mean anything.

Oops... you're right. I was looking simply at the front page (store.apple.com and .au), not on the click-through pages. They're still there in US too, at least for the iBooks. But the PB in the US seems to have been snagged of the "new" tags, whereas the "new" graphic remains in Aussieland.
