my grandmother just passed.

I came home from school at lunch today to find that my house was being swarmed by paramedics... they just arrived.

My grandmother, who you might have heard me talk about in a thread at the old clinic, was flatlined on the ground in her room...

they called it at 12:35pm. (EST)

Edit:

The coroner just left, natural causes.
The police are still here.
My Dad is calling what seems to be the world.

Edit#2:

People from the funeral home are here. They just took her away.
She is to be cremated.
The police have left.

I am recalling just now that you had a thread in AI.com (TRC – the thread is gone now, I guess), in which you described your last years taking care of your grandmother. What you wrote was a worthwhile read, talking about the pain and joy of taking care of a sick family member. In addition to the sadness that you now feel, I hope that you also feel some joy and pride in the care and comfort that you gave her.

I am very sorry.

I am sure at her funeral she will bring out many tears from people.

May she rest in peace. This brings back memories about the wonderful thread in the TRC about your grandma. :(

How do you feel now?

I'm sure she had a good time, with you looking out for her. One day in the distant future you may look back at the 'ol days, and see what good you did.

I'm really, really proud of you, of what you did for your grandma. :)

Of course, she'll never be back again. Only in your thoughts shall she visit you. But this is the way of life. PM me if you want to talk, \/\/ickes.

My sympathy to you and your family, Wickes.

She was fortunate to be living with those who loved her, and not in a retirement home somewhere. You can comfort yourself that you helped make her last years better ones with your efforts and care.

Deepest sympathy to you and your family VVickes. I read that thread in DrATC, but never posted. The others are right when they comment about the good you did looking after her... and, as Carol said, take some solace from the fact that your efforts in caring for her helped make a positive difference to the last years of her life.

Condolences on your loss. I just went through the exact thing five weeks ago, with my grandmother. :(

I'm really sorry to hear about your loss Wickes. Losing a family member is always one of the toughest things you can go through. If you ever need anyone to talk to, I know I'm willing as well as several others here. Try not to keep your feelings bottled up inside, that usually makes things worse. :\

Again, very sorry to hear about your loss. She's gone to a better place now, and hopefully your life will improve as a result.

Thank you everyone. This means a lot.

I am dealing with it very well, we have been expecting this for about a year now.

Our phone has been ringing non-stop for the past day now. There is much to do.

So I will be taking a break from the forums... well not a break, I just won't have time to post as often as I would like.

Thank you again, I am glad I found you guys.
