all right i found this over on macrumors on the blocked in china thread someone accidentaly let this slip read the last 3 lines

by uncle zeppy : It used to blocked here in Shanghai but now it's working again. I thought first maybe the reason is the Apple store; you can check the prices around the world and then go to local Apple store and complain, and end up getting the laptop from Hong Kong or some other country. Then I realized the store is accessible directly (store.apple.com). The blockage was annoying mostly because even the Chinese website has always worked (www.apple.com.cn) there were some things I needed to see in English.

I think in the future things might be the otherway around, the Chinese Apple site will be blocked from outsiders. According to my source all the Apple computers are made in China and there will be cheaper models targeting the local market. The new iMac G5's are made here but production is very slow (lack of CPU's?). They must be just filling the pipeline.

Could this be true? or do we have our first troll?

Either the iMac G5 is on the way (most likely). . . and I'm pleased.
Or, we get to have a mass stoning in town square . . . and I am pleased.

Think it will arrive at WWDC? Seems to be the safe bet. Apple will probably be kinda quiet the next week or so (but I'm hoping DISPLAYS rear their head at some point).

Nope. Not made in China.
Quanta (Taiwan), Alpha-Top (Taiwan) and LG Electronics (Korea).

It is probably a safe bet that we'll see a G5 iMac at the WWDC or soon after, but the poster over at MacRumors is just wrong.

The companies apple contracts there work to are usually in taiwan but many have factories in china because of lower labor costs

I vote troll - maybe that's too strong a word. I'd guess "misinformed & believes everything he reads on the 'net" new .org member.

Great idea DMB.

For now on I am calling all n00bs/trolls a Quag.

Expect to read this from me in any thread started by a troll:
"STFU you stupid Quag. Fuck, I can't believe I just fed the Quag."
-or-
"No no, you silly Quag, OSX can not run on a PC."

:)

Well, that's not a bad idea. However, what I'm trying to say is "windowsblowsass" is none other than our good friend Quagmire. He just dressed up in some new flame retardant jammies.

Seriously? Because WBA showed up right after Quagmire's unfortunate PowerBook thread. They both are allergic to punctuation and grammar. Both of them are from Pennsylvania. Both are uneducated GOP clones. *Note* Being a GOP member does not make you uneducated. But both posters in question are uneducated. There are a ton of other eery similarities.

But if you say it's not him, then I guess I should believe you. You are an all powerful Mod.

Well, I checked their IPs. Normally I'd be suspicious and assume that Undertaker was posting from one computer, and windowsblowsass was posting from another. But I checked about a dozen posts by both of them, and all of them consistently used the same IP. Also, it appears as though they use different ISPs. So despite the similarities, I think they are in fact different people.

Oh yeah, it would probably be in everyone's best interest to get this thread back on topic.

I was referring to natively running on a PC. I am well aware of the PearPC project, and I support their efforts (in PPC emulation, not OSX on x86). Besides that was just an example, but thanks for reminding me that not everyone here is bright enough to make that connection. For a second there I had a missconseption of what social level ai.org is at. :\

hehe, just kidding. ;)

Anyways, PearPC's current pace is probably better described as "shuffling". :)

My pesky PC crashed when I was installing Panther on PearPC (probably due to over aggressive BIOS settings.)
