Thankyou! my first real stab at photoshop planet tutorial - and then just a space I made. :)

The icons are: to the right of Finder (Mac Janitor) and to the left of iTunes (sketchup). :)

Here is another quite simple one I did (I generally like a simple desktop) which is basically just a random play that came into my head.

Edit: Yummy, dark goodness! Easy on the eyes :) However, when you go into something that isn't supported, like Sys. Pref, it goes back to old style :(

Its "Cold" theme. I found it on interfacelift i think.

I have gone back to Aqua as, although cold was nice, it had grey fonts that were too light to see when working with photoshop. Doh!

Thanks. I have tried various themes and I just can't find one that I like when using all my standard applications on my laptop (Safari, Mail, iChat, Word, iTunes, iPhoto, etc). I always get weird breaks in the theme with my menubar applications as well and it bothers me. As tired as I am of Aqua defaults it is the easiest on my eyes and it is perfect in all applications. :D

The page is some big long explanation for how he created the theme, and the download is toward the end. But it, like most themes, doesn't work with every app and it has its quirks.

Of course. :)

That's the easiest way of doing it, but it gets a little tedious when you work on really small details. I've actually noticed a few things that I missed, so I'm going to work on it a bit tomorrow afternoon when I finish with class for the day.

Even though it isn't 100% done, I wanted to post it right away because it's the coolest thing I've ever done with Photoshop. (Then again, I've spent less than 10 hours with PS altogether.)

The shadows are modified WindowShades X. I edited the Plist file to make them custom. They look really nice on a light background.

That's the res. of my version that I'm using (MacBook), so that's not a problem at all. I'm going to make a couple other versions for non-widescreen displays, too, so I'll post them as well.

I have a class after lunch where I'll have access to Photoshop, so I'll finish the final touches then. Hopefully I'll have time to post the final pictures tonight.

I'll post a 1280x1024 one, too. I just picked up a second monitor, and that's what it runs at. (Lame? Yes. Free monitor, though? Very yes.)

The hills and canyons out here were made for driving a car like this. It was a beautiful day and I found a couple of roads that I had never been on.
I do need a better camera though. My point and shoot doesn't do justice to how amazing the area is.

I was going to guess late 80' because my Dad has an 1988 911. Sure is a fun one to drive. I am still having a little trouble getting into first gear under pressure, like at stop lights and signs (especially on hills). I will probably finish learning how to drive stick this summer and then I will be able to drive it in places other than empty parking lots and through neighborhoods! :D

Thought it was time I updated my shot. This is a picture I took over the summer. My youth group was painting the house where this dog lives. The dog fell asleep on the steps there with it's back to the wall. When it woke up it had a nice strip of white paint down the center of his back.

Well, I really never use iTunes much anyway. I use my AppleTV most of the time now. I use iTunes for showing off though.

Well, the message style is "Fiat" with the Orange over Red style.

The background for the message window is set to solid white with 50% opacity.

The shadows are controlled by WindowShades X with the offset set to 4 each and the spread set to a low number. (As you can see, it only has a few bugs. Note the sharp shadow on the QuickTime window but the rounded ones everywhere else.) It looks much nicer than the default drop shadow. If only I could change the menu bar's shadow to match. Note the shadow around the message balloons showing through the translucent background. Looks awesome IMHO.

The buddy list is simple. Status icons are "Noko" and the colors and sizes are just adjusted to suit taste and match theme. Nothing special.

If not included with Adium, Fiat and Noko can both be found at Adium's customization website.

And, I like the word audium, but, it's Adium – sans the first U. :)

:D Very nice. On a sort-of related note, I just had my desktop image reset to the factory default after playing the Age of Empires III demo. The game ran beautifully, but when I closed it, my desktop had changed!

I got the iCal and iPhoto icons from Interfacelift.com the iCal is from "Black and Blue" and the camera one I use for iPhoto is from "Chums" But the iCal one went back to the original one when I opened the application...so I donno.

Anyway, here is my updated desktop...I think I got everything how I want it for now anyway..until I see something on here I like more ;)

To get the iCal one to stick: find it in Finder > right click it > Show Package Contents > Contents folder > Resources folder > paste or drag the icon and replace the one in there. Though, you might want to backup the originial, in case you ever want it. And I'm assuming the the IL icon is named the same as the original iCal icon, if it's not, then you'll've to rename it exactly as the original to work...

EDIT: Actually, that probably won't work... Not the right type of icon I think... :(

:lol: Select the icon you want to copy into iPhoto, go into the get info menu, then Copy the icon you want by selecting the image. Then go to iPhoto, get into, and the get info menu, paste... its just that easy. BTW you can only do this while running via an admin account.

I tried that method but it doesn't work with iPhoto. I was told to modify the package contents to update the icon. I'm gonna reinstall iPhoto now so I can at least have the original icon back. :|

If you haven't tried an icon-management program like CandyBar (http://www.panic.com/candybar/) or Pixadex (http://iconfactory.com/software/pixadex), I'd suggest you download that and try the demo. Makes swapping icons pretty simple, and you can hold around 200 custom icons with the free demo version of Pixadex. If you like them enough to buy them, they're pretty cheap as well ($18.95 for Pixadex, $12.95 for Candybar).

See, I'm just so "normal" when it comes to making changes to my stock configuration. I don't change much because I'm cool with the normal settings for most things. I just happen to like the Rebel XT iPhoto icon because it's the camera I have. I'll look into one of those apps though just in case I start ot feel from "froggy".

Well, it's there if you want to use it. I just use Pixadex to change my hard drive icon and a few others (flash drive / iPod / specific folders)...the demo version fits what I need it for, and you can't really beat free. :D

Liteicon (http://www.freemacsoft.net/LiteIcon_en.html) is a free alternative, which is almost identical.
