thought i'd pop up my parallels folder menu to show you a useful way of organising and running your vm's. The track playing is the latest Unkle single which is absolutely banging!

EDIT: changed to thumbnail to avoid destroying the forums...

how did you get your parallels folder menu like that? thanks.

I created aliases to my virtual machines, copied them to a folder and then dragged the folder to my dock. Easy!

uh... yeah.

I find it a great way to manage my multiple virtual machines in the office. Just right click the icon and choose the machine you want to load. Only problem is that when you create a new virtual machine you have to manually create an alias and add it to this folder.

All the Macs at my work use Norton SW. I wonder if thats the reason my G3 PM drags ass during simple tasks. Only things I use are Word, Excel, Safari, Mail, and iChat

Please enlighten me. I was unaware that norton is bad news.

Norton is bad news, Period! They buy small useful utilities, and bloat them out with a load of crap. (Ghost being a good example)
:D

But basically, your Macs Hard Drive (HFS+) defragments itself and your Mac won't get viruses. So the question should be What is good/needed about norton?

Jasoco
2007-09-13, 14:52
I haven't used virus software in... 7 years. Not since switching. Even when I had OS 9. The only Mac vidus I ever met was a benign harmless variant of SevenDust which was in OS 8.6 on a Duo 2300c I bought off eBay. A free virus killer for OS 8.6 killed it.

I wouldn't want Norton crap taking up my resources doing things I don't actually need done.

I use spotlight quite a bit to access most of my programs. I prefer to have less on the dock, rather than more.

There's a terminal command that I can't seem to find right now that moves the dock over.

I do keep Spaces and Dashboard in mine just because they're closer to raw interface elements rather than app icons.

This is literally the size of my dock - I have no use for any other icons, as most of the things I do are in Safari and Finder. The other two most common programs, Word and MSN I launch using the Apps stack or Spotlight. Everything else is the same as Word and MSN.

I grabbed a few frames I like from that CS screensaver (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/icons_screensavers/csscreensaver.html) I like so much and use them. It's quite eye-popping on this big, new glossy display!

And I like this one too, of course...you can't beat orange 'n' swirly! :p

Wanted a new desktop and icon set to accent the aluminum MacBook. This looks really good on the black/glass display...

It just pans and zooms through about 10-12 differently colored designs that play off the CS3 packaging (just colorful, abstract swirly stuff). It does the slow zoom/pan, then dissolves to another, just like all the stock OS X savers.

I just extracted a few out ("Show package contents" or whatever) and threw the image files in my desktop pictures folder so I could use a few as static desktops.

I don't know why you're unable to get it to play. You downloaded the screensaver directly from Apple's site, right? (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/icons_screensavers/csscreensaver.html) That's all I did. Decompressed it, double-clicked, was asked if I wanted it installed, clicked "OK" and that was it. Been using it for about two weeks now.

Oh, I forgot we had a thread like this. Here is mine. The pic is from last month which is taken with my infrared modified camera. It is a dying town in Italy, and it was nothing short of breathtaking. Unfortunately, the aspect ratio is not right for my monitor.
