View Full Version : Spam Rant
ShweetJeebus! I woke up to over 10,000 spams today. IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS!

Now, I have a carpload of filters in Mozilla (over 56) and this system does a good job of weeding out some of the bigger nuisances, but my E-mail is routinely getting shut off by this last wave of spam. All the spam comes from "Thomas Peter von Bahr" at 12:00 so it is easy to filter out, but danm that's a lot of spam!
Anyone else getting this new wave? I would love to forward ALL them all back to him, but I think I would be hurting innocent people's mailboxes if I do.

Want to know something funny? I've never gotten a single spam email since I started my then new email address nearly two years ago.
:p :D :D

That's not funny. He's gonna come kick your butt now.
I've never gotten that amount of spam, ever. I haven't even gotten that amount total, let alone all at one time.
Mail's spam filter gets everything. It's been 6 months since I've had one slip through. And I get maybe one or two pieces a month.
My problem is not really downloading and deleting the spam, since I have a good system of getting rid of it. My problem is that the spam fills up my mailbox before I download and filter it. I don't think any mail program can fix this problem because they filter only after the mail is downloaded.
Oh, and I'm not in a butt-kicking mood. Yet, anyways... ;)

Hey, maybe the RIAA found out your email... ;) :p

Good ISPs will filter obvious spam on the server... maybe you should shop around for an ISP with proper spam filtering?

If you think getting 10 thousand spams in less than a day is bad.. then imagine how these (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/3834919.stm) people feel.... Whoa.
I read here (http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:f72x5XTyK4wJ:www.guppylake.com/~nsb/LotusAntispam03292004.pdf&hl=en) that as few as 20 people could be responsible for 80 or 90% of the world's spam email.
If we ever found these people, I think they should be executed on the spot. The amount of time and money lost, not to mention frustration, is more than enough to justify it.
