View Full Version : iMac DV is this a good deal?
I was checking out some stuff at a local computer outlet and they had some old iMacs. I found a DV slot load DVD 400MHz with 128RAM and a matching mouse. No OS. I asked how much and he said $50. I took it home hooked up a keyboard and loaded a developer addition of Tiger (all other OS disks at work) and it runs great!! DVD player works great and I can't believe how quick it is for computer lacking so much as far as CPU and RAM. I just got it for the kids to play with but I can't believe Tiger runs on it so well. So is $50 a good price?

That said, yeah, $50 is a pretty good deal! Add some RAM to that sucker and you'll have a usable machine.

Yeah, that's definitely a good price. Give it more RAM, and it would be about equal to my 500 MHz iMac, minus a hundred megahertz or so. It's pretty amazing how fast those iMacs still are. :) The only problem is, since you say it runs DVD Player, it probably has a DVD-ROM drive. I don't believe Apple started shipping Combo drives until after then; it was a choice between DVD or CD-RW drives.

I'm sure he could mod it if he wanted to go that route, right?
