MacObserver (http://macobserver.com/article/2004/06/24.2.shtml) has an exlusive report up about the new version of Real Player. Some of the notable features include:

Qucktime content support
Favorites sharing via Rendezvous
Full Screen even for QT content
Safari based integrated browser
Graphical EQ (Costs extra on Windows)
Rewritten in Cocoa

There are a ton of other new features and screenshots in the TMO article.

What strikes me is that this is bringing the OSX client almost to feature parity with the Windows version. Will this be the beginning of the Real music store on the Mac? Maybe we'll also see the new Real movie rental service?

Either way, I'm glad that Real is paying attention to us. Lets hope that the Safari plugin also gets an upgrade.

That is a nice change of pace for them. Many commercial and news media sites use Real Media as their streaming technology of choice, so this is nice. Especially if there is better Safari integration built in. I've had persistent problems accessing real files that are embedded into web pages, so I always have to launch the player and drag the URL into it instead.

I just try to avoid any RealPlayer media altogether. the player sucks something horrible. I don't much care about the update, since I won't use it anyway. But for those of you that do, I hope this improves it...I guess it cant hurt, cause that thing can't get much worse.

The existing one sucks but if they've made some big improvements to v10, I think it's worth having as long as it remains free for all the good features listed in the article. Can't be worse than WMP, which is the digital equivalent of a festering boil on a Baboon's ass.

I’ve never had problems with the last version of RealPlayer – although I am not all that demanding on it. But as for WMV, I agree with Moogs. In my opinion it should be banished entirely from both the OSX and the Windows platforms. Instead, its use seems to be growing. The proper response is that anyone who puts out a media file in the .wmv format should be subject to harsh penalties.

A kick in the nuts for example.
