It seems the new Promo works great - even more than 5 millions away from the ultimate goal... In the last 8 hours alone, people have bought more than 100,000 songs - and counting. I'll keep track of the numbers tomorrow, it'll be interesting to see in how far this Promo might increase sales. Before, Apple said to have sold 2,600,000 songs per week, and right now it looks as if its even more than that. I love those marketing people. Just like at WWDC, when Steve pulled this "speed increase comparison between Pentium IV and G5" thing. Too good...

Yeah just wait until we get to the last 2 million songs. Sales are going to go haywire. Apple is pretty smart I must say. I'll be picking up a few tracks once I feel like i'm close to the bonanza.

In April Apple was selling 2.7M songs a week. The record is 3.3M songs in a week. That's more than 100K songs per 8 hours already. Include the brand new international stores and I don't think the promo is actually doing a whole lot. It's probably just making the curve a little more wavy as it generates lulls and spikes as it approaches each .1M mark.
