Hey people, I just wanted to introduce myself, I am Alpha9 and I have just found out about this forum through my contacts, and thought this was a cool forum. Well hello again. :)

P.S. I won't be here for a week since I'll be going to Colorado.

I just wanted to say HEY!
And thought I'd make a thread for all the people coming from Bones board

http://www.pstheme.com/cgi-bin/think/ikonboard.cgi

My name is .. slacker. And I go by it but I'm Christina, Chris or Christy. I am (ALMOST) 23 and I live in Oregon. I've been a mod at Bones board since Oct. of 2003 and you can see me on his board sometimes (if Im not working my ass off) and sometimes in the #thinksecret (freenode) and on iChat.

I got an iBook 800 G3 640mb, X.3.4, airport blah blah it's getting old. :p
I am a tech support rep and I sit all day listening to people get mad at me. Not really sometimes I do have people who are ACTUALLY nice. But yeh. I just thought I'd say hey and make an introduction!

Yea, I used to be on that board until I was banned (long story), it was a cool board, until I left. Anyway....

I have an iMac G4 15" 800MHz version, I am into politics, anime, manga, computers, and Mac gaming. I was a former administrator at the now dead MacThreads.com back in Nov. of 2003 until around March of 2004 when MacThreads was changed dramatically and then killed by the owner of it. So now, I'm gonna be going to colorado tomorrow.

Ok, I suppose I can play along... ;)

As some of you have already figured out, I'm the forum admin over at the (now) old Think Secret message board. I started about 3 years ago shortly after watching the previous version of the board die a slow, painful death, and I've been doing it ever since.

I'm into multimedia, computer animation and gaming whenever I'm not busy greasing the wheels on the board database. Now it's a matter of figuring out what I'm gonna do with the extra free time once everyone has a chance to settle down bit. :)

i too am one of the guys from TS i've posted there for exactly a year now, and i hope we can make the transition as smoothly as possible. first off, i use a ibook g3 700Mhz, im an writer for Dotapple (http://dotapple.net) and im a student. and i do a little programming on the side. im a total right-winger, so im probably a minority at this board, as the last. oh, yeah, and badger, badger, badger, badger, MUSHROOM, MUSHROOM, badger, badger, badger...

Hi I'm thrice.

I haven't been around TS lately 'cause I've been busy. This looks like a nice place, I like the decor! Ooooh, moving emoticons...sweet

I'm currently working on a degree in Musicology, I'm a Mac user (duh!) and I like long walks on the beach...etc.

Currently I'm having fun building my own headphone amps and generally enjoying life as a married man in a new house :)

Hey ladies: I'm currently single, blond hair, blue eyes, I stand at 6'1", and I have great hair. I enjoy driving my Porsche, taking long walks on the beach, and eating fine food. PPL describe me as "sexilious" and "Godly." I have an MBA, and I own a Fortune 500 Company. I am a hopeless romantic and a wonderful conversationalist, so IM me!!! I'm seeking someone who I don't know, and who's good looking.

Oh yea, welcome to AI/Viva La Revolucion/AN

I represent the person known as "Schvoo" from the (old) think secret board at pstheme.com. Anyways, I'm the webmaster of http://dotapple.net and the forums http://forums.dotapple.net . I can be spotted at geekd.org as well. I hope this place ends up as great as the place I now leave was.

More Details about me (for those of you who care): Im 16, I'll have my license in a few weeks, I live in New England (sadly) though I am Australian at heart (and by blood). I go to a boarding school from sept.-may so don't expect to see a lot of me for those 9 months of the year (last year I was too distracted and got "GASP!" a 3.3GPA which by my parents standards is completely unacceptable)

Welcome everyone. Good to have an infusion of new people during the early stages of this forum. It will serve us all well to have a mix of old guard types from the original AI forums, and new people from other forums. New ideas and insights are always a good thing.

Cheers,

HI! I represent the entity known as "silas_pc" from the old board. I am 15, live in Melbourne, Australia, am a student....

I have a maxed out 12" iBook (G4 @ 1.07GHz, Bluetooth, 60GB Hard Disk, 1.25GB Ram, Airport Extreme, the whole deal.) I also have an old G3 iMac (600MHz, 384mb ram, 40Gig hard disk)

I joined the TS message board nearly two years ago.... been there for ages.

I am an admin/moderator at geekd.org and yeah.... have some experience in iKonboard so something may happen there..... If the old board remains open, I will just stick there with the regulars... and if It closes I will investigate other options....

I hope to be able to have a avatar here, cause I find that I usually tend to associate people with their avatars instead of their name....

My name is DMBand
I reside in Chicago, Illinois
Full time student, full time loser
I play in a band or two when I have the time
I write songs and record a lot of stuff
I'm in school to be a paramedic/firefighter

I hate long walks on the beach. The old ideas of romance are lame. But I won't go into the new romance. I don't think anyone here is ready for that anyway ;)

morning all,
Tis I, i will lurk for a while to see the lie of the land.. no offence intended, just seeing how things are.. hell i lurked for over a year on TS before chiming in... it'll be interesting to see what happens here, hopefully we wont loose too much that made TS great for us and equally you wont be swamped by stuff that made you not join TS when you split off from AI..

for the boring stuff.. we use Macs at home,we drive Smart cars,we have other hobbies, we have been known to post while under the influence, its raining in the UK currently

PS.. thanks for putting the link in feedback.. would hate for any of the TS regulars to get lost in the move but for a couple of days during the transition would it be possible to add it to the main page to make it more obvious and Bones.. how about one at your end to here ?

But you should still listen to Murbot. His opinions on hockey, useless politicians, women and drinking are particularly useful. Also an excellent documentary film-maker.

Hello to all. I too am from TS, and although I don't post much, I do spend countless hours a day/week reading through the forums (except for the ones involving politics). I am currently using an 15" iMac 800G4 with a measly 384Mb ram and a 200Gb HD. As of late I have been toying a lot with DVD Studio Pro 2 and attempting Final Cut Pro 4 (although with FCP requiring 384Mb of ram to run at all, progress seems to be futile at the moment). Oh yeah, and for what it's worth, I live in Washington.

Thanks for not having my screen name already taken also.

Hey ppl.

My name is SonOfSylvanus.
I am a student from the UK and study History in London.
I am trying *desperately* to NOT spend a grand (yeah, thats $1,831.52... what an effing mark-up!) on a new 20" display because I obviously can't afford one.
I'm so gonna buy one, aren't I?

Shit \/\/ickes, I didn't know that you Canadians were rednecks too.

Since we are all doing the warm and fuzzy I'll chime in:
I'm kretara. I reside in Little Rock where I battle brainless rednecks, religious fanatics and Politicians with a gleam in my eye. :smokey:
I used to argue with Cambrige Ultra-Liberals during my stint in Boston, now I argue with Arch-Conservatives.
I'm a Webmaster/DBA for a State University. I work all the time so I don't post much.
I've got 4 Macs, 2 Dells and 2 Sparcs.
I'm a Leo and the wife tells me I'm pussy-whiped.
I'm an absolute slave to my daughter and my iPod.

yeah, luckily my TS screenname and AN are able to stay the same. I'm still adjusting to the format change here, I kind of like it though. But I can no longer single out whose posts I want to read (kind of miss the flaming head you had going on over there) instead I have to scroll slowly to try and read names. oh, well.

propellerhead
2004-07-02, 17:21
I'm propellerhead...my interests include planes, cars, surfing, and politics.

I currently reside in Texas and will begin college in the fall in Ohio. I have lived in Germany for 4 years and in England for 2.

Did I mention I like to surf?

I used to be called job at the old AI.com, but that doesn't really matter anymore anyways.

I really, really like to surf.

I compute on a Wallstreet Powerbook and an iMac DV, both of which I purchased myself. I also bought my first car, an '86 Mercedes 190E.

Anyone want to buy me a new surfboard?

To all the TS people, have fun here...we won't bite.....that hard... ;) :p

shylock
2004-07-02, 17:57
Time to chime in here...

Call me "shylock" and I hail from the (old) ThinkSecret forums.
I work in IT leasing, ordering inferior systems (Dell, IBM, HP) for clients, but with the occasional Apple system here and there.
I'm 23 with a birthday somewhere in mid-June.
I used to work in Hollywood as Production Manager and Writer but now live in my hometown of St. Louis, Missouri (CUBS SUCK!!!).
I own a brilliant 15in 1.25GHz Powerbook G4 w/ 1GB/80GB/SuperDrive with Airport Extreme (and Base Station) and a 3rd gen. 10GB iPod.

I own a DVD collection to rival God himself.
I play Unreal Tournament 2K4 way too much.
I'm deadly handsome with brown hair, colored gold right now, brown eyes and a smile to make the girls swoon. I'm single ladies...for the time being...I should stop before I forget which of those are lies and which are accurate.

I look forward to squeezing into what I guess has now become a much more populous forum.

2004-07-02, 22:51
Well, to introduce myself to all the Thinksecret people:

I'm a 24 y.o. Australian later-year Arts/Law student (majoring in history and Latin in my Arts degree), who currently works in IT helpdesk/light sysadmin, a bit of DTP, accounting, legal research, and a variety of other office/clerical positions (I have a lot of jobs).

For those who care about my appearance, I'm a relatively nondescript 177cm tall, with long black hair (almost my bum, almost...), quite thin (well, my BMI < 20 anyway), and a bit of a goth in that grungy "I couldn't be especially bothered anymore" kind of way.

I moved here from Appleinsider.com, although I'm not quite the refugee other people here are (I can still post over there).

NosferaDrew
2004-07-02, 23:40

I killed my PowerBook a few weeks ago and am now posting from my new iBook that I just grabbed at the Apple Store until I get my little 12"PB running again.

So what's this thread about again?

and a bit of a goth in that grungy "I couldn't be especially bothered anymore" kind of way.

God staph, I'd never have picked you as being goth-like. In my head, you've got more of a microbial look about you.

I have to say, I think the TS crew have done themselves proud. Given that on average they seem to be slightly younger than many members here, the way they have conducted themselves has been exemplary especially given the bollocking they got in some threads.

At first glance, Bones seems to be a very fine style of an admin. I can understand why many of you feel like you'll be lost without him. Maybe the gods will see fit to make use of his formidable abilities here.

Oh and I'm Chester (but don't let the name fool you ;)) and I piss some people off by refusing to tow the party line.

Now, new Australian members (or those who IDENTIFY with this wide brown land) listen to Uncle Barto and go vote in the "Where do you live" thread.

Actually staphylococcus was the original reference, combined with a slight play on my actual name... it's just that I've been using the tag since about 1997 so I don't really think about it much anymore (if ever). I did say I was being a bit slow today, didn't I? :)

I'm sunrein and originally from the .com boards.

I'm 27.

I just quit my job last month so I can go back to school to get my doctorate in music composition.

I am one of the elusive 'switchers' that you may have heard of but rarely seen. The evidence is that I sold my PC the same day that my new powerbook arrived... and got my soul back from Microsoft in a rebate offer.

I have more DVDs and CDs than you do.

I am moving to Kansas City from Oregon in three weeks. This is confusing for me because I've been told it's in the mid-west, which I thought would be close by, but apparently will take four days to drive there. This sucks. Especially in late July.

So howdy to the TS folks and howdy to the AI folks that may or may not have known me before.

I've been a member of the TS forums for about a year now. I'm over here now just getting a feel for this forum! :)

I'm a music major, studying organ (bet you couldn't have guessed). I love music and I'm planning to probably be a music teacher.

I bought my first mac in January. It's a G4 PowerBook with superdrive, and shortly after that I bought a 20 gb iPod, both of which I love.

i drove from houston tx to spokane washington in 38 hours. and that is a lot more distance than you will be covering. i was only going 55-60mph the whole way too. good luck with your driving, but it should not take you anywhere near 4 days to make that trip. (oh, i hope you like corn fields).

Ahhh... maybe that .au in my profile was a little too subtle. ;)

I was a proud early member at TS (no. 8) and I remember 68k (and dumbth  ) as well as olliekirk, Hes Nikke, Markis, Quobobo, artenman, missyagogo and Bones3D of course. I also recall the original PS themes thread - which obviously led the new home hosted by Bones3D after 68K stopped posting (or running the board or whatever - I'm not too clued up on the real history there).

I actually stopped posting around that time, so I don't know any of the new/younger generation. :( I'm surprised that you picked up on my little hint silas_pc - so thanks very much for the greeting! :)

And of course, welcome to AN - or as some prefer to refer to it as: bastardchild.com ;)

Air travel? Thats absurd, why would you fly anywhere within australia, I mean the whole country is like the size of new york state right, so driving from Darwin to Adelaide should only take 2 hours, or at least thats what a lot of tourists that i've talked to in Brisbane seem to think. Hehe. Morons.

Hmm. Not sure. You'd need to ask Barto about that.
Are you saying I'm some sexually depraved country hick!? How dare you, I demand an immediate apology!

Um... what I mean to say is that I wouldn't know. Yes. That's what I'm saying.

Well actually, I was just suggesting you could describe the inside of a roo's pouch. The sexual depravity is your own admission!

Hehe. A friend of mine had their English relatives coming to stay with them in Berridale (between Cooma and Jindabyne). After looking at the map (but not the scale) they planned (until we set them straight) on doing day trips to Sydney.

Jesus go away will ya. :-) I was just looking at that same site 'cause I had no idea what the dimensions were (about 4000 km across btw). It's like you're my evil twin or I'm your evil twin or something.

Swim Bass Strait eh? Well you'll get plenty of media attention. At least until you get eaten by one of the Great Whites that are rather numerous in that part of the world.
