Biggest, friendliest cat I've ever encountered was a Maine Coon. You could pick him up or roll him over and scratch his belly like a dog, and he loved it. If you wanted to pet the thing for half an hour, it would let you. The thing *never* got testy or swatted at you for petting it, and almost never ran away from people unless there was a ton of racket going on (party or something). If I ever get a cat it WILL be a Maine Coon. You could even take the thing to the vet and he was like "OK man, whatever... just give me some more food when we come back."
