Sorry reviving this unresolved old thread, however I experienced the same problem and resolved it.

When I attempted to install Quicken 2007 under Parallels V3 on my Macbook I received the Install failed Exit Code 1603. I copied DISK1 from the CD to My Docs in XP, then attempted to run the Quicken 2007.msi installer and received an error about my home folder on my Mac.

Turns out I did shared folders with my mac and XP could not connect to them. So for some reason the installer was trying to reach my home folder on my mac, thus the error. To resolve:

1) Obviously boot into your XP under Parallels.
2) In the Parallels desktop toolbar in OSX click on Devices, Shared Folders, and click on Home Folder (which should be checked).
3) You will receive a message about redirecting the folders that will require a restart. Go ahead with this.
4) When it restarts, you should see that the home folder is unchecked from step 2. Now you can install Quicken 200X.
