I can't get the alarm to work on my iPod Touch. When alarm goes off, i don't get any sound but I do get the message on the screen to turn it off or snooze. I can hear the alarm with headphones but can't hear the alarm from internal speaker. The speaker works fine as I can hear the sound fine when i pick different types of alarms in the settings. Does any one else have this issue ? I even tried the new update but no luck.
Thanks |

Um... the iPod touch does not have an internal speaker, maybe except for the little beep or click that the old iPods use to make.

I thought it was just supposed to wake you up to music.

Strange, I haven't had a problem with the iPhone alarm not going off, and I use it every day. I would be in a lot of trouble if my iPhone alarm would fail ...

My iPhone alarm works fine 3 times a day - it wakes me, tells me when I'm late leaving for work, and tells me when I need to leave work. I'd not be on time without it.
The alarm does not route through the bluetooth headset, but I haven't checked the headphones. |

I just tried on my 4th Generation iPod, and rasmits is correct. It plays a little tune.
EDIT: It works on the Nano too; the same tune. |

For info, the iPod Touch has an internal speaker/beeper same as all other iPods. Further than this, it is much better than the beeper on older iPods. It can play around 5 or so (I haven't got mine in front of me to check) fairly loud alarm tones which can be played through the internal speaker or through the headphones or both. Note these are actual alarm clock tones, as well as the normal calendar reminder tones. The alarms can also be used on the countdown timer. Personally I've found them very useful! ![]() |

First and easiest fix: Update to iPod software 1.1.2 - this solves the problem. Second fix (seems to be related to 1.1.1 software): After you finish syncing, fully switch the Touch off and on again (ie, hold the power button for a couple of seconds until the red "Slide to Power Off" screen appears. Then switch back on again. The alarm tones will now work properly. Please note that when you next sync, the alarms will become disabled again. You will need to get in the habit of powering off and on again after each sync. Although as already noted above, the update to 1.1.2 completely fixed the problem for me. If you are already on 1.1.2, maybe you should try the power off/on trick once, then sync, then see if the alarm still sounds. |
