Well I recieve this message in my reputation list : I expect that the author will have the courage of making a clarification :

"You're the reason that people left .com. You should be ashamed of yourself."

I am very, very interested, to know how can I have such an influence. Perhaps should I get the title of major contributor of .org, if so many members came here, because of me ?

oh shit - here we go again.
PowerDoc please ignore that type of self righteous drivel... people are taking it too far.

If you know the mods well (and I suspect you would) you could ask them to let you know who posted that comment.

And - if any of the mods are listening - is there any way that the "reputation" points system can identify those who make the comments to us regular community members? The ability to post appraisals and hide behind anonymity is a double edged sword and now that personal attacks are coming into play the system is being exploited.

Oh no don't be a party pooper Mac+. I think the reputation system is a complete hoot for all the reasons you so eloquently describe. I mean what sort of a fuckwit would you have to be to actually use it? This sort of fuckwit:

It's all your fault Powerdoc. Blame the French! Blame the French!

Anybody with half a brain figured out long ago that only dickheads who write that sort of twaddle use the reputation system. I doubt very much Powerdoc is losing any sleep over it.

I mean think about it. They're so piss weak they can't even put their comments in a PM and sign their screen name. Need I say more.

oddly enough, i think it might depend on how/what you post.

apparently calling people "fuckwits" isn't a good way to get positive feedback. man, someone should totally write a paper on this. shocking discovery!

people here still do childish things like that? I thought it was just ai.com members that did finger pointing and name calling. Guess I was wrong.

All kidding aside. Are we not better then this? I mean, common man let's not stoop down a level.

no sig, how's that for being a rebel!

You guys want to hear something funny?

I knew some people had left, but I had absolutely no idea that all this had happened. I'm still not really clear on what all went on, but I much prefer smaller forums than larger ones.

The only way I was able to get to this site was through alcemedes' sig at .com. Funny, huh. This came as a real surprise, especially with Amorph staying over there.

Anyways, I was known as job at .com. I didn't really post that much (I had around 480 posts.) Maybe I'll make a more memorable impression over here.

It wasn't me. I wouldn't let a thread-locking-Kasper-lackey drive me away.

Besides, I still sometimes post there, but this place is home.

Ehm...I'm not sure if this question has been asked yet, but..

What exactly is the purpose of this site besides a Mac-leaning discussion board?

I mean, I think a smaller community like this is great, but I don't see it supplanting or even complimenting the other rumor sites. I honestly don't know if you guys have much in the way of rumor sources at all.

Will this site lose the front page and go to forums only? A simple, clean, quick Mac discussion forum? Or will it try to be something else?

chester - fuelling the fire ... careful, you'll wake the natives.

Yeah, I presumed that Powerdoc wouldn't lose sleep over it - but it does piss me off that members stoop to that behaviour. Just very poor form.

Hee hee hee I know. But you know as well as I do, in some people's eyes around here I'm a marked woman no matter what. So what the heck? Besides the temptation to buck the system is just too great.

I suspect there's a natural reaction amongst Australians to be uncomfortable with the reputation system (OK not Barto but we know he's a weirdo ). And as the Australians already understand what I mean by that, I won't bother explaining it any further.

We were discussing this before the whole "split" began. It was never firmly ironed out, so I don't know quite yet. We plan to do something with the front page, but the extent to which that will go we are unsure. I choose not to comment until I have discussed/developed it farther.
