So I have this class called Critical Thinking, which is a 100 Level course (Freshmen course, that I have to take for my major) and my teacher I think is insane.

He tells us 911 is made up, that JFK was assinated by the CIA mafi and then covered up by Lyndon B Johson, the CIA, FBI, and then later GERALD FORD (which I thought the only thing he could do was each nachos and drink beer with Homer Simpson...) that Senator Paul Wellstone plane was brought down by some futuristic secret weapon used by the government, and that the moon landing was fake.

His name is James Fetzer if you do a google search you'll find his things.

He also has a new site http://st911.org

I think he's crazy, my dad (who was flown up to cover the Wellstone crash and was interviewed by Fetzer) thinks he's fuckin bonkers as well.

He spent today's class (1 hr. and 30 mins) talking about how he's always right and everybody is always wrong in the afore mentioned senarios.

Please keep it civil as I would love to keep this thread opened and not locked.

It is critical thinking right?

Couldn't he be doing all of this on purpose?

Doesn't sound like the type of class that would be worth dropping in general.

Just regurgitate what he says, and get out.

Well, what part of the above makes him crazy? Seems reasonable to me...

Aside form that, what's the actual content of the course? My Critical Thinking class was all straight logic, essentially math with words. What's the subject matter composed of, other than him pontificating?

The future is tomorrow!

Basically just that. It's not your normal logic with valid, sound, etc., arguments. He has some content in there but it's whitewashed with all the other crap he's spewing so you have a really ahrd time pulling out what's supposed to be the meat of the course.

The guy needs to do some reading. I suggest starting with Wikipedia's articles on Sinterklaas and Yule.

Not crazy, perhaps delusional, but I think it would be very interesting at least to hear him talk about these things and any type of 'proof' he has. Just think of it as a fictional story class

There are some very smart people who think those types of things though, so it's always interesting to at least hear them out.

Well, even if he does believe it, the point of the whole exercise may still be aout challenging your perceptions. Yes, he's wrong, but you have to carefully construct your arguemnt about why he's wrong - he's obviously smart enough to go up against poorly constructed (even if correct) arguements.

I see no better way to wake up a dead man than to challenge them at their perceived comfort level. Here's to the crazy ones.

As for the cube dude, all I see is one giant repetitious ad of self promotion. I see no substance in his message.

Argento, since you're in this class,

might as well have fun with it.

Agree with him that 9/11 was orchereasted then next minute disagree violently.

Keep contradicting yourself, blurbing out tangent stuff such as if he's talking about Bush being an incompetent, say you would like to bang Monica Lewinsky,

then argue that 2 plus 2 equals 22, and come to class drunk.

That'll trip him up.

In theory, that's a fine idea. However, it's tough to out-whacko a true wingnut.

I've tried...it ain't easy.

Actually, that makes it easier.

The trick is to override your inhibitions; you know, putting aside the rules your lovely dear mum taught you.

Once put aside, you're unmatchable.

A fine Idea I'll have to try. He is bat shit nuts.

Perhaps I'll claim the world is flat, or come to class with tinfoil on my head so the secret weapon they used to kill Wellstone won't effect me......

More likely than not though drinkin will be the way to handle this one.

I personally wouldn't want to pay to listen to that nonsense. Guy sounds like a barking moonbat on a soapbox to me. My advice is to get out now while you still can. In the meantime here's the bane of 9/11 conspiracy theorists....

http://www.popularmechanics.com/scie...html?page=1&c=

Of course there is also a conspiracy theory as to why the above article is a CIA disinformation plot itself. Like most however, it relies guilt by association and a lot of assumption. So good luck hehe.

Shhhh, I can't see!

(just•another•reality•distortion•field)

I would sit it out for a while and wait where is leads to. I have some hope he might be b-shitting you all as a part of his teaching method. Like Billybobsky and sunrain allready said (I just realised)
