I went to screen effects in iPhoto 4 just to see what it was, and now it won't stop changing my background every 5 seconds, cycling through pictures of my dog!
My dog is very cute, but I don't want to keep seeing the pictures whisk by every 5 seconds. I just want my Aqua back! I'm running Tiger and I think this might be another iLife '04/Tiger compatability issue. I'm not dumb, I went to the Desktop background preferences, picked my aqua picture, which it changes to, but then it starts cycling through the dog again. The box that says "change picture" is not checked. This is really annoying!!! |

have you tried restarting after resetting that preference? Maybe it just didn't take it? I haven't ever seen this problem before actually.
Not that it makes you feel any better. Google is your frenemy. Caveat Emptor - Latin for tough titty I tend to interpret things in the way that's most hilarious to me |

Kinda off-topic, but the only time I ever used 5 second desktop pictures was when I exported The Incredibles to an image sequence at 2 frames per second. Then I set desktop background to random and 5 seconds. Man-o-man it looked great! It totally worked.
Just don't export to .png or .tiff... unless you have a free 23GB. |

That's cool Ebby, what did you use to export the movie? was it right off the DVD or did you have a .mov file?

It is a 2 step process. First you have to convert the .vob file into something Quicktime can read. Handbreak can do this if you up the bitrate for better image quality. I personally wanted the absolute best quality so I downloaded a free MPEG utility that would allow me to simply demux the video. The resulting .mpg file opened in Quicktime and I simply exported to an image sequence. Note you can get TENS OF THOUSANDS of images so use JPEG (ouch I know, but at least the source was perfect) or if you have lots of drive space use .png. It worked great on the animated movie, but I am not sure about real-life colors. I tried TIFF format and that ended up around 1.2MB per image.
