I'm a late-comer to this album, only getting it in the past few months. It's one of those albums that makes me wonder what other incredible music I've missed in my lifetime. If you haven't heard it, do yourself a favor and get it now.
I decided not to participate in music threads after somebody said rather cutting things about my lack of taste for liking Rilo Kiley, but: yes. I know that it's like an infamously hipster album on 4chan and the like but I think that's unfair because it really is good (honestly I think 4chan just crowned it Most Hipster of Albums because of their esoteric naming and artwork). One of the albums that really opened my eyes to what music could be, for sure.

and i guess i've known it all along / the truth is, you have to be soft to be strong

I havent listened to much Rilo Kiley but I like Jenny Lewis so there's that.

And I don't give a crap what 4chan or anyone else says about my music choices. The album is brilliant. NMH was interesting at the show. No cameras allowed which was a bummer but it was a fun set. Jeff whatshisface was all unibomber like with crazy hair and beard. Good times.

If it's not red and showing substantial musculature, you're wearing it wrong.

I've been absolutely hooked the The Raconteurs lately. Yesterday I was walking home from the gym listening to it and just kept walking for an hour to finish the album.

Jaime & Mike were kind enough to drop RTJ2 a week early. For free. Again.

These guys are so great. They work super hard, know what they want (roughly) and are really good together. Never in a million years would I have put El-P and Killer Mike together for a whole fucking album, but here I am salivating at the fact we have two now. What a time to be alive.

Let us take a minute to remember where we all last left off.

The video is pretty great, but the sound is genius-level. I absolutely love it.

And now we have 2. I haven't even absorbed it yet, but I can't wait to see what happens next.

So it goes.

!!!!! Holy fuck, man. Nice to see you again.

I'm kind've surprised with what I'm hooked to right now, but in the spirit of the thread: Monster Magnet - Dopes to Infinity. I've been on a real twist lately… it's super weird.

Still, Dopes to Infinity is a keystone album. It's SO good. It cannot be denied.

Neil Fallon could've gone this route, easily. It's an interesting thing.

So it goes.

Sadly, we'll never get anything like Dopes to Infinity or Transnational Speedway League or Nothing's Shocking or Louder than Love or Bleach or etc. etc. -

We could do a whole thread on this sort of thing.

So it goes.

I kind of accidentally discovered Royal Blood today, and I've been enjoying the album at work. Apparently the Brits are giving these guys the keys to, like, Rock or something. I haven't really read or heard anything about them other than a few lines of Dave Grohl and Jimmy Page loving them I guess.

I'll see what listens 2 and 3 do for me, but so far it's interesting. Not bad for 2 guys!

I was on the way home the other night when "Change Reaction" from Robert Hazard and the Heroes came on. Such a great song from the early '80s. He was big in the Philly club scene and had a couple of hits. He was on MTV a lot when it first launched. He also wrote 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun" which of course Cyndi Lauper went on to make into a huge hit.

In the Flat Field

Because it's amazing and should be touted as a high mark in music history.

Turn off the lights and turn this up. You will be transported.

(also, though I generally have no time for Drake, Back to Back was solid, and I enjoyed it. I even liked Charged Up. Just sayin.)

So it goes.

Hunters & Collectors – Hunters & Collectors

This one is weird. I grew up with it and it definitely shaped my music interests and me to some extent. But it's also somehow hitched itself to my DNA, as the best of the best do. It's oldish, 1982, but still immensely listenable. I love it.

Heavily Australian, FYI. They had such the best music back in the early '80s.

If this album was a double with The Fireman's Curse it would be may favorite of all time. No question.

So it goes.

Say what you will about Courtney, but for a moment in time she was the biggest female rockstar on the planet.

And the best. Just so good.

So it goes.

She's basically a piece of human garbage, but that is a seriously great fucking album. True story.

Whatever she did after that, who cares, they can't take that record away from her.

I'm alive!!

Personally, I'm on a musical journey to my past. Today's stop included a new discovery. Spotify. This shit is awesome, but it took a free premium account from Rogers (Canadian for rape) for me to realize this.

Anyway, I'm rocking the Candlebox pretty hard. Yeah, yeah, my credibility is toast now, but I don't care. In that one window of my past they kicked ass, however briefly. heh heh

All Them WitchesOpen Passageways

Good. Really good. Kind've a mix between The Black Angels / The Pink Mountaintops ... with a hint of Clutch?

Slower than I usually go, but still right up my alley.

So it goes.

A quintessential product of the mid-80s. So good. So, so good.

Haven't listened to Pierce the Veil in forever. Might have to give this a spin. Always enjoyed them.
