I mean the hardware itself, can the wifi module suddenly go bad while the rest of the computer components are fine?
My wifi connection had been steady, only occeasionally will it drop connection. Now, I'm having a connection problem. My iMac is from mid-2007, it's kind of old. But hardware components failures are rare... |

Yes, they certainly do fail. Some times it's even the logic board that fails and impacts the wifi module connection.
