I recently had Verizon's FiOS installed and am not happy with the speed I'm getting over my wireless connection. I'm in a pretty small house and the router is downstairs and my powerbook is one flight up but no more than 100 feet away. When running bandwith tests, I'm told I'm downloading at 1.84 mps, but it takes forever (minutes) for pages to load. Is there any way I can adjust setting on my notebook to maybe speed things up (I've cleared the cache, history, etc.). Also, are there any devises that I can use to extent the range of my wireless connection?
Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. I'm running a PowerBook with Tiger. |

Are you actually 100 feet away?
I am surprised you get any reception at all... Your computer's wireless is lousy and possibly lossy at that distance... |

Sorry, it's probably more like 30-40 feet. Whatever the distance, it's the same distance as when I had DSL, where I did not have these problems.
Thanks again. |
