Hey folks, didn't know this place was back up until I saw a post over at AI that you were giving trumpet hell over here. Using Safari on my Mac, I still get 404 errors. However, on my PC I'm clearly here and posting. I've tried emptying the cache and it didn't work. Any suggestions?

We had another user that had hard coded the IP address for applenova.org into their hosts file, and when we changed hosts that screwed them up. That's the only thing that comes to mind.

Nope, didn't hardcode any IP, at least intentionally anyway. How do I get at the hosts file to check?

Open up the terminal

cd /etc/
nano hosts

Should look something like

Code:
## # Host Database # # localhost is used to configure the loopback interface # when the system is booting. Do not change this entry. ## 127.0.0.1 localhost 255.255.255.255 broadcasthost ::1 localhost fe80::1%lo0 localhost
If you see anything in there re:applenova, remove it. You'll probably need to do a

sudo nano hosts

in order to edit the doc with admin permissions and save it (ctrl-x, y, enter).

Otherwise you can try flushing your DNS cache, although it should have reset by now.

Again in the terminal type:

lookupd -flushcache

Then hit return.

That worked Alc. I have no clue why a hosts entry was made for applenova.com and applenova.org but it was there. Deleted the line and flushed the cache and now it's back up and going on the mac. Thanks.

I think there was a stretch a *long* time ago when our DNS entries hadn't started working yet. A few very long time members knew what the DNS info should have been and manually entered in what they needed.
