nah, I hate it too. It certainly tastes the way you describe it to me as well. Not for everyone.

I've been pretty blessed to be in the center of incredible microbrew country for the last half of a year. Lots and lots of good beer out there. I much prefer strong dark beers though and IPAs.

Ninkasi can seemingly do no wrong for my taste buds right now. I'm loving their Imperial Stout and Sleighr

Also liking Deschutes Black Butte XXIV limited release. The limited black butte releases are excellent. The standard black putte porter is not. Depressing, as its very difficult to find the limited release.

Bell's "Java Stout" is officially my favorite beer of 2013. It's outstanding.

It has a terrible, terrible label, but don't let that dissuade you. The flavor is just... wow. A couple levels better than Founders' Breakfast Stout, which is high acclaim coming from a "heavy beer" lover like me.

I'd been on a Narwal kick lately (because, delicious) but god damn, this new Java Stout is just phenomenal.

So it goes.

Need clarification - is it Ply-nee or Plin-ee?

Also Ya-kim-a or Ya-keem-a?

YEAH-kih-maw is closer to how we locals say it, emphasis on first syllable. PNW a's are a bit nasal and drawn out, e's a bit clipped.

Puyallup is pew-AAL-up, Sequim is squim, Wenatchee is win-AA-chee.

'aa' is like "AAAAAAAAAA!" not a long A.

Just smashed a keg of Sculpin at work - a lovely balanced beer. Looking forward to the Le Freak - sure to expand a few people's horizons.

If anyone wants a beer from NZ and is willing to pay a stupid amount to ship it then let me know. We have some great beers but alas distribution worldwide is negligible.

Local bar has Racer 5 for dirty cheap during happy hour, so that's been my goto for the past few months. And the bartenders do buy backs. They also have an awesome jukebox of 80s punk, 80s-90s hiphop, and 60s-70s soul & rock n roll...so I come when it's not happy hour.

Also, fall is here, so I've been getting the Ninkasi Sleighr as well. Christmas and a Slayer typeface, what's not to love?

New Belgium "Rampant" Imperial IPA, Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye (woot!) and Bell's "Smitten" Golden Rye Ale.

Very tasty, all, though I have to lean on my fave, the Ruthless Rye to be my go-to. Tough selection. All are very, very good.

Having all 3 at my disposal though, heh. It's a magical place.

So it goes.

Ballast Pt Victory at Sea just went to to the top of my list. Imperial Porter so rich and flavoursome, that even some non porter friends changed their mind.

Don't blame you. Great beer, and so well constructed. Racer X is also a treat where I think it's only fault is that is too well made and balanced that it lacks "character".

Going to be great when beers with flavour are the norm and the lager louts are scorned.

Stone's Americano Stout. This is so much better than I expected, even from a favorite like Stone. It's a bit sweeter than BS or CEO, but I kind of dig it. Had it on draught earlier today, delighted that I found a 6-pack later.

So it goes.
