Hi Gang:
I've been asking a bunch of questions... some answered... some still remain the greatest mysteries of our time and I have another challenge for ya'.

I can't open this MP3 file stored on a CD. All of the other files open just fine. The extension is the same, it does have proper wieght with in the disk (32MB) so the file is there.

Is there a way to force open an MP3 file? I've tried attaching it to iTunes, making a copy of the file and trying to open that... making an archive, later expaning it to "fool" the file... nothing.

Any thoughts?

Sincerely,
Mouth

What happens when you try to open it? Does it just sit there? A message appears? Does this same effect happen with a copy as it does with the original?

Just that.

It tries to open it... the file logo expands and then disolves like any other file trying to respond. iTunes (the new 7 very cool) comes up on the screen as my default play and.... nothing... never loads. The CD moves even but the file never shows up.

I agree, try it in VLC. Try it in QuickTime, and try it in MPlayer.

Are you sure the file is an MP3?

I mean, besides the extension name, how do you know it's an MP3? Did you create it yourself? If so, how?

Ehm, Mouth.
I'm not (trying to be) a wise guy. I was trying to be helpful by telling you that "google.com" will answer your question (What's VLC?) very swiftly and easily.

Again, how do you know it's an MP3? Have you ever opened it in a program that clearly identified it as an MP3?

Hint: next time use Google. You'd be amazed at how many simple questions like "What is VLC?" can be answered with a quick Google search. In fact, the very first result when searching for "VLC" in Google reads:

VLC media player - Overview
VLC - the cross-platform media player and streaming server. VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats ...

There's even a link to VLC's home page!
