I'm trying to get my wife a belated mother's day gift. It's not that I've been slack but I'm having trouble with the images I want to get canvased. We took a couple shots of my kids using Instagram. I'm trying to recreate the effects using the full sized images since the ones that Instagram puts out are very low res.

The first one I'd like to reproduce is this. If possible, I'd like the background of this one a little darker so it's not so obvious.

The second to reproduce is this:

The originals can be found here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/73392/photos.zip

Can anyone help? I'll buy you a beer next time you're in town.

If it's not red and showing substantial musculature, you're wearing it wrong.

Oh with pretty please ? You had to say it first time around

Would that do it ? If it's good, here's the zip for full rez. Got the photoshop saved so if you wanted little tweak, just ask with some sugar on top please

Edit : I didn't crop or framed it to let you more options. Hope it's all good.

Here goes the PSD.

You'll see the adjustments layers. At first I used the hue and saturation to desaturate the image but it wasn't like the reference (mostly the glasses were too bright). So I used the black&white with a red filter. The Hue&Saturation is still there to add a little bit of a blue tint on the boy pic and a little bit of yellow on the girl.

I also added a "cheat" layer to get that all black background. Some items were still visible... no much but barely.

Glad I could help ! You can tell the wife you did it by the way
