Well, last night I visited my local Apple dealer to get the new 12-inch powerbook but was so smitten by the new 1.5 GHz 17-inch one that I bought the latter instead.
The machine is awesome. The screen is to die for: very bright, no dead/stuck pixels, no hot spots, and it's is very bright. The bottom of the computer gets only warm after prolonged use. Palm rests get only slightly warm. I have not heard the fan come on yet. The build quality of the thing is amazing. It feels very fast with 768 MB or RAM. The machine is kind of big, but not so big as to make it not transportable. Thought I would share. |

yeah, i had the 17" for awhile. but i decided to downgrade to the 12" so that I could pair it with the new 20" display. but it was tough to make the adjustment from that beautiful 17incher to what seems to be puny 12". However, I can't complain, the portability of this thing is so much easier.

Ok here is the link. Of course right after the first shot the bloody batteries die in my camera. Sorry for the poor quality. http://www.escsonline.com/17.jpg Last edited by EDS66 : 2004-07-28 at 19:52. |

But boy am I glad I went with the small and light 12-inch PowerBook! With an external LCD, it gives me the best of both worlds. I can have my cake and eat it too. But if you can't live without a big screen while you're on the road, the 17-inch PowerBook is undoubtedly a wonderful beast. Escher I've been waiting for a true sub-PowerBook for more than 10 years. The 11-inch MacBook Air finally delivers on all counts! It beats the hell out of both my PowerBook 2400c and my 12-inch PowerBook G4 -- no contest whatsoever. |
