Just curious about permissions... Did you try the terminal way ? Just wondering if the GUI method could actually work better.

Honestly, I never touched Terminal. I just don't feel comfortable with that and if I did something wrong...

Can be scary indeed... but with drag and drop it's harder to mess with folder names and all. Anyway glad you could fix it with a good ol' mouse

Hi it sounds like this is exactly what I am experiencing

I mounted the sparsebuindle of my backup

I then found the latest backup version

I copied that user folder over to my computers drive

I started iPhoto holding the option key and selected the other library and it works so far

hope this helps

I got shafted by time machine because I had not backed the system portion of my drive due to space constraints, so it wouldn't let me do a full restore after my drive toasted and I reloaded the OS

Welcome, and glad that it helped!

-scates, hope you don't mind but I edited your post to include the solution in a quick/easy to find manner in case other people stumble across this thread. Having been on a recent witch hunt for rare info, it's annoying to try and find the eventual solution after 10 failed recommendations.

Not at all. That'll be much better help to people than wading through 20 posts of me bitching and crying.
