No, I haven't. I've heard some people talk about it but I've never used it.

Acorn is pixel-based, though, so you can't really compare it to Illustrator.

Yeah, what little I've heard I thought it was more of a Pixelmator. But I thought maybe a new version was released that does everything (pixels and vectors).
Was it Intaglio, bassplayer? Last edited by pscates2.0 : 2012-08-29 at 22:03. |

Nope, it was Sketch, by Bohemian Coding --> http://www.bohemiancoding.com/sketch .
[edit] DrawIt was also by Bohemian Coding, but it's been discontinued. |

Why hasn't anyone mentioned this neat feature in Safari? (This may be a notebook specific gesture) pinch with a thumb and finger and the tabs in a window break out.

Oh wow, seems 10.8.2 is actually out now too! Details found here, update in Mac App store.
Or here: The OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 update is recommended for all OS X Mountain Lion users and includes new features and fixes. Updating your system You should back up your system before installation; you can use Time Machine. Do not interrupt the installation process once you have started to update your system. You may experience unexpected results if you have third-party system software modifications installed, or if you've modified the operating system through other means. Choose Apple () menu > Software Update… to check for the latest Apple software via the Mac App Store, including this update. Other software updates available for your computer may appear, which you should install. Note that an update's size may vary from computer to computer when installed using Software Update. Also, some updates must be installed prior to others. You can also download the manual update installer. This is a useful option when you need to update multiple computers but only want to download the update once. These versions of the standalone installers are available from Apple Support Downloads. Additional Information This update is recommended for all OS X Mountain Lion users, and includes new features and fixes: Single sign on for Facebook Adds Facebook as an option when sharing links and photos See Facebook friends' contact information and profile pictures in Contacts Facebook notifications now appear in Notification Center Game Center Share scores to Facebook, Twitter, Mail, or Messages Facebook friends are included in Game Center friend recommendations Added Facebook "Like" button for games Challenge friends to beat your score or achievement Other new features Adds Power Nap support for MacBook Air (Late 2010) iMessages sent to your phone number now appear in Messages on your Mac* You can now add passes to Passbook (on your iPhone or iPod touch) from Safari and Mail on your Mac* FaceTime can now receive calls sent to your phone number* New shared Reminders lists New sort options allow you to sort notes by title, the date you edited them, and when you created them Dictation now supports additional languages: Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, Korean, Canadian English, Canadian French, and Italian Dictionary app now includes a French definition dictionary Sina Weibo profile photos can now be added to Contacts * Requires iOS 6 General fixes The OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 update also includes general operating system fixes that improve the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac, including the following fixes: Adds an option to discard the changes in the original document when choosing Save As Unsent drafts are now opened automatically when launching Mail Receive Twitter notifications for mentions and replies from anyone URLs are shortened when sending tweets from Notification Center Notifications are disabled when AirPlay Mirroring is being used Adds SSL support for Google searches from the Smart Search Field in Safari Adds a new preference to have Safari launch with previously open webpages Resolves an issue that may cause the "Enable Autodiscover" checkbox to always remain checked Enables access to the Mac App Store when Parental Controls are enabled Support for @icloud.com email addresses Resolves a video issue with some VGA projectors when connected to certain Mac notebooks Addresses an issue that may prevent Active Directory accounts from being locked out Resolves an issue that may cause the policy banner to re-appear prior to logging in Improvements to SMB Addresses an issue with NIS users when auto-login is enabled Addresses an issue in which the Keychain may not be accessible Ability to pre-authenticate a FileVault protected system Addresses an issue that may cause Xsan to not automatically start after migrating from Mac OS X Snow Leopard Louis L'Amour, “To make democracy work, we must be a notion of participants, not simply observers. I have moved one of our computers - my MacBook Pro - onto Mountain Lion a couple of weeks ago and it has not been a happy experience. Everything is now sluggish, from opening applications to working in them. For the first time in years in OS X, I am getting regular spinning beach balls not leading to crashes, but just because the computer needs to take its time with tasks that were instantaneous in Lion. Safari regularly hangs on websites, or downloads them at a snail's pace - and it is not our internet connection that is at fault, because the same website on another computer or device in our system (running Lion or iOS) opens immediately whenever I test both side-by-side.
My MBP is not new, but it theoretically is fast enough and has enough RAM to run Mountain Lion well and I have seen reports of others having the same setup as mine having performance improvements in moving from Lion to Mountain Lion, rather than the other way around. I did a complete 'clean' of the system using Onyx, and that seemed to help somewhat, but not completely. I have been reading a few Apple help forums, and it seems that I am not alone in having these problems: they seem to be occurring with a small but significant subset of users. I have not yet undertaken some of the more involved solutions that advised in the forums that have worked for some users. These include i) boot from safe mode and undertaking some repairs from there, together with other resets 2) various option changes, such as disabling iCloud, Java, and other stuff that is not absolutely needed 3) a complete reinstall and/or 4) various other weird stuff. I guess I will have to spend some time checking those out, although it is time I don't really have right now. I know that this sort of thing can happen when doing a system upgrade, and that it can be fixed. That said, I have been doing OS X system updates for years on various computers and this is the first time it has happened to me. Annoyed. ![]() Go softly on. |

A reinstall of ML seemed to have vastly improved matters, if not fixed things altogether. I tried a simple reinstall first - not an erase install - and that seemed to have been sufficient to do the trick. It still seems a bit slower than Lion was, but that might just be my imagination.

Is there a way to do a clean install and then go back through Time Machine and pull out things like Mail set ups, iTunes, keychain, ect.

Yes you can do a fresh install and then use migration assistant (after) to being your stuff over.

I've always used that but I thought it would restore from where it was at the last backup, not let you be selective.
