I'm not getting emails and outgoing email is failing? anyone else experiencing?

I presume its work related to the transition of MobileMe...

Been down for awhile now.

If it does relate to the upgrade, not exactly smooth and pissing quite a few people off.

Mac.com says it's down, but .Mac email is still working for me. Maybe it's just the Mac.com web site that's down.

I'm still getting mail on my iPhone... it's the web UI that's down I guess.

Everything seems to be working fine for me. Perhaps it's back up now?

yup, it's fine now.

There's a new (?) MobileMe advert on the home page and section on how to prepare for MobileMe. Please correct me if that was there before. I'm not normally on the home page.

Na, they added that and the two MobileMe "how to" stories last week. I guess all systems normal now.

When do you think the transition will occur? July 11 with the iPhone or before that?

The wording issue was taken care of with 10.5.3. All the references to .Mac are just placeholders in a text file. It would be very quick and easy to change them to say "mobile me" instead, and it wouldn't require a full point release like 10.5.4 to do that.

Of course, that doesn't mean it won't happen that way anyway. I don't know how much 10.5.4 has been seeded, though. It doesn't seem to me like it would be time yet.

.Mac reset on me. I had to re-sync all my data. Does this happen to anyone else?

sorry, missed your reply. by the way, how was it taken care of with 10.5.3? it's still got .mac all over it. all those placeholders would need a system update 10.5.4. there's no other way.

I think what fcgriz was meaning is that as they are parameterised throughout, Apple could issue a smaller update, "Synchronisation update 1.0" or something with new values for the names to conform to Mobile Me rather than a full-on update to 10.5.4.

It does seem though that Apple have mentioned 10.5.4 in enough places (system requirements for iPhone etc) and pushed the betas out the door that a new release before the 11th July seems a near certainty.
