I have a Cordless mouseman optical from logitech sitting right next to me. The red light is flashing, the base unit is plugged in. my computer detects it, but...I ain't getting anything.

It's not my mouse, it's my former roommates, he left it here, it was working fine before summer, and no one has used it since then, it's just been sitting in a drawer for 4 months. So, I busted it out and the battery had molded over. GROSS!. I've seen this happen before, and as far as I know it's not particularly harmful to the battery or the unit, but it cant get in the way.

Well, I bought a fresh pair of batteries, cleaned out the mouse as well as I could. At first I couldn't get the red light to work, now it's flashing just as if the mouse is operating correctly.

I downloaded the latest drivers from logitech, but I've never need drivers before, eitherway, they didn't help. On the base unit there is button called "connect" I have pressed this button in many different ways(holding it for 3,5 and 10 seconds, pressing it quickly, pressing it slowly, pressing it twice, three times..etc.) Nothing seems to get the mouse to work. I've restarted my computer, I've unplugged the mouse and plugged it in again, I can't think of anything I haven't tried.

I hope it isn't fried from that mold thing. I mean, all signs point to it being operational, it just...isn't being operational.

I'm running panther 10.3.5, I've never had any problems with this exact mouse before, and I've used it for almost 2 years now(both on my computer and my roommates)

Have you tried to put the base in another USB port?

yup, I only have two. That usually works on windows PCs I've noticed, but I've never had issues with this mouse in either port.

I saw no button anywhere on the mouse while I was cleaning it 15 minutes ago. But, I cleaned out some more of the mold gunk, and it's working now.

maybe I tripped the button without knowing it? eitherway, it's working no, so all is well.

would a mod please change the title of this thread to "Help me get this mouse to work(fixed)"
