My imac was running perfectly well, until I left on a week long vacation. When I returned I couldn't even open up garage band or address book.
My brother was playing games on it all week long, so would that have anything to do with it.
Would there be any way i could bring it back to its former glory?

thanks for your time.

Have you tried the suggestions in the FAQ?

FAQ: Check this thread *first* if you have computer problems!

namely:
- repair permissions
- repair drive
- clear caches
- run cron maintenance scripts

And, of course, be sure to reboot.

If it's really important to you, try doing an archive and install of OS X off the system CD's. That will speed your system up some and it's not too much of a hassle.
