Just a note to any of you who were unaware that the new version of Coda was released today, for a discount.

I upgraded this morning, since I use it so often now.

Here's the link:
https://panic.com/coda/buy.html

I don't have any thoughts about the app since I haven't even cranked it up yet, but I may post something once I do.

What do YOU think of it?

From the few minutes I had to play earlier, it's a great upgrade. But I've honestly spent more time with Diet Coda which is equally impressive (if not more so).

Its not perfect, but it's a fantastic start and the only code editor I've seen on the iPad so far. It's also half off today (5/24) only so get it while it's hot.

Is Diet Coda also reduced? ::running off to check now::

Yeah, I just got Diet Coda here. Half off ($9.99) today too.

Still holding out on Coda though. I don't code a whole lot so it seems like it might not be worth it for me. Diet Coda though, great for quick fixes on the go.

Yeah. I bought Diet Coda too. I'm such a sucker for pretty software.

But it seems like it would be very useful for quick work. There's no shortage of good editors on the desktop but on the iPad, it's going to come in handy.

My favorite thing about Diet Coda so far, the way it completely redesigns the Apple magnifying glass text selection thing. Since there is precedence of Apple adopting the original Coda's reinterpretation of tabs into OS X as a whole... there's hope for the future.

So I went ahead and got Coda 2 through the Mac App store. It was such a good deal that I just couldn't pass it up.

I love Transmit and Prompt. So far I'm liking what I see with Diet Coda so I just can't imagine this not being worth the money.

Especially at half off.

Thanks for the tip on this Drew!

It appears to me that one of my most useful features of the previous version of Coda has disappeared... can anyone else verify this?

In the previous version, after you saved a file, an up arrow would appear next to the file in the pane showing local files. Just clicking that arrow would upload the revised file to your server. Now it looks like I have to navigate away to a different window entirely and deal with some sort of check boxes and other such claptrap.

If I have 2 or 3 files that I need to update in a preferred order I can right click each one and select "publish to 'xxx'" but what if I've altered 3 files and can't remember which ones they were?

The older you get the more you hate change....

I got a chance to try the software out tonight. Wow. Talk about some spit and polish. That's one fine app!

My wife and I are clearing out the attic and we have a bazillion baby things to sell on CL. Rather than do the typical ugly listing thing, I thought I'd make it look decent. My coding skills aren't great, but I can put together a not ugly tableless CSS based design. Anyway, I did the heavy lifting on the iMac and tonight sat on the couch with my wife and adjusted prices and descriptions. The super loupe was amazing.

I can't believe the caliber of software we can get for $10.

Meh. I am still apoplectic about the removed functionality of the upload buttons beside changed files. As far as useful features go, it feels akin to Adobe taking away layers in Photoshop. ::sigh::

Glad that you like this almost-great bit of software, hate to be a grumbler about the missing upload arrows

I don't know about that feature since I'm not using Coda 2, just Diet Coda (I know that the thread is about Coda 2 but who uses desktop software anymore??!? )
