Can the iPod nano carry files like the hardrive based ipod?

Well, I was just wondering because i thought the iPod being able to be used like a hardrive was a plus.

thank you because if it didn't I wouldn't buy it. By carrying files i mean like it showing up in the finder as an external hardrive.

Flash memory is this:


They're just two different ways of storing data. Hard drives are slow and big and have moving parts, but are relatively cheap. Flash memory is fast and small with no moving parts, but it's relatively expensive and generally has a shorter life span.

The battery will certainly stop charging long before the flash memory chip (not drive!) gives out. Many flash manufacturers claim a life span anywhere between 10,000 and 100,000 write cycles.
